24 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 28, 1986 ATOM UAW 7 - Gord Lewis Motors 2 Jeremy Norton scored the first goal for UAW with assists going to Kent Jamieson and Jason Dunkley. Although a clear day outside there was a cloud of fog inside behind Kent Jamieson as he raced down the ice and fired the puck on a pass from Ben Lewis. When the air cleared the ref found the puck in the net. Jeremy Norton scored the third one for UAW on a rink wide pass from Garf LeFort. Gord Lewis played a good first period but couldn't put it past Brad Lemieux who played good stand goal and his secret is to have your stick on the ice. John Hall scored for Gord Lewis with assists going to Mark Cosway and Matt Coyne. UAW followed right behind and scored three more, Ryan Ridgeway from Todd Moore and Rob McEahern; Jeremy Norton his third of the day from Ryan Ridgeway and Robert Romano; Jason Dunkley with help from Ben Lewis and Todd Moore. Gord Lewis never gave up and Louis Whitfield put the black rubber in the net with a blistering shot with assists going to Darryl Slack and Mark Jansen. Jeremy Norton ended the game for UAW with his fourth goal and the assists going to Robert Romano and Garf LeFort. Marj Tripp 4 Lake Scugog Lumber 2 Adam McTaggart opened the con- test for Marj Tripp with a hard shot past Lake Scugog's net minder Kyle Simms, with Mike Nichols and David Holt drawing assists. - Lake Scugog came right back and evened the score on a goal by Kevin Pearce with the help of his team- mates Dale Bradbury and Sean Ball. Marj Tripp didn't let up and went ahead on a spectacular goal by Dar- rin Hope with assists going to Graham Holt and Troy Hope. Marj Tripp scored another minute later on a shot by Adam McTaggart, his second goal of the game, Mike Nichols and Jeff Fletcher picking up assists. Karen Kett and Andrew Jones played excellent on defense for Lake Scugog but couldn't stop Wade Sheedy who put one in the net on a pass from Troy Hope. Lake Scugog came back on a nice goal by Karen Kett assisted by Steve McDonald and Steve Kyte. Whitby Auto Wreckers 3 Port Perry Lions 3 Port Perry Lions Jason Philips popped the first goal by Whitby Auto Wreckers Greg Rankin on a pass from lan McClelland and Mike Staniland. Whitby Auto evened the score seconds later on a goal by Mike Labanovich from his winger Bran- don Puckrin and defenseman Alan Calder. Port Perry Lions went ahead again on a shot by Sean Gawley with assists to Kevin Ellis and Mike Leach. Then two minutes later Whitby Auto Wreckers went ahead of the Lions for the first time on 2 well ex- ecuted play by Ritchie Tripp, Mike Labanovich and Mike Pothier receiving the assists. Midway through the third period Sean Gawley scored his second of the game and tied the game for the Lions with Shannon Leslie and Josh Wilson gaining the assists. The last few minutes we saw the black rubber moving up and down the ice but the superb goaltending of Mike Tripp for the Lions and Greg Rankin for Whitby Auto Wreckers forced the game to remain a tie. NOVICE Three games were played last Saturday in Port Perry's Novice House League, two of which were very closely contested, the third a shut-out win. Game 1: Swamp Auto Body 5 - Kinsmen ¢ In this game the Swamp team built up a 4-0 lead after the first period, and coasted home to a 5-0 win. Greg Pugh and Steve Cochrane each had 2 goals, with Craig Laird getting the fifth one. Darryl McEnaney assisted twice, Dwayne Rombough once. Kirk Swain led the way for the Printers with 2 goals and an assist. Matt Mantel and Jeff Griffin had the others. Mike Heasman, Ryan Morden, and Brad Shanley all had Minor Hockey House League scores a pair of assists, Robert Gracie one. For Remax, lan McCready fired two goals, Jon Jamieson one. Jeff Jamieson assisted on one of Ian's goals. Game 3: David's Hairstyling 5 Van Camp Contracting 3 Again this week Matt Brown was the big gun for David's, scoring 3 times. Kent Taylor had a goal and two assists, Jeff Clarke a goal, and Chad Mitchell an assist. For Van Camp, Darryl Bourgeois, Jason Logan and Justin Wooten scored once each.
