26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 28, 1986 Bantam A's double Cobourg by 6-3 score On October 22, the Goreski Ban- tams hosted Cobourg and handed the visitors a 6-3 loss. Cobourg opened the scoring in the first minute of play and added a se- cond goal 6 minutes later to take a 2-0 'cad. Port then came back with 6 straight goals. Todd Taylor picked up the first two of these goals and then set up Kevin Gibson for the 3rd goal. Jarrett Harman then took over by scoring a natural hat trick. Paul Allen picked up 2 assists with singles going to Mike Sorley. Jason Weinhold, Sean Bradbur,, Taylor and Gibson. After a shakey start Brad Bricknell settled down to play a solid game in goal New team...new sweaters...new sponsor...home debut. What else could we expect but the crescendo of- noise and excitement that emanated from the Port Perry dressing room on Friday, October 24 as the clock approached seven. To explain further, Port Perry's "'other" Atom hockey team -- the Pineridge Atoms -- was presented with new, smart looking red sweaters and individual name tags along with souvenir pucks and pins, by Dave Obee on behalf of the team sponsor, Pineridge Sports. The excitement did not end there, however. The team carried its en- thusiasm onto the ice against their opponents from Orono and jumped into a quick lead with a goal by Bil- ly Sandiford assisted by Jeff Card just 32 seconds after the opening face-off. Orono tied the game with 3:10 left in the first period with what turned out to be the only shot to get by the goaltending duo of Steven Stiles and Steven Gilbert. After a scoreless se- "cond period, the Pineridge team Jon's Auto 5: Repairs On Saturday the Goreski squad travelled to Port Hope and once ~ again came away victorious by the count of 4-3. Once again, the opposi- tion scored the first goal only to have Port come back with 4 in a row. Paul Wylie opened the scoring with a long shot from outside the blue line. Bradbury then scored on a deflection while Weinhold was do- ing his thing screening the goalie. Gibson then finished off the scoring with 2 goals one minute apart. Port Hope then scored 2 late goals in this penalty filled contest to make the game appear much closer than it actually was. Clair Cornish also had a strong Pineridge Atoms win the debut finished strongly with three con- secutive goals in the last five minutes of the game to seal a 4-1 home opening victory. Scoring for Port were Neil Mueller on a set-up by Michael Williams, Jeff Card from Todd Smart and Billy San- diford, and Todd Smart assisted by Jeff Card and Billy Sandiford. The Pineridge team displayed great hustle, good positional play, and '"'thinking" hockey in a very - . entertaining game. Other members of the team are: Brett Lawson, Blair Prechitko, Misty Andrews, Joey Broadworth, Corey Bricknell, Scott Wylie, Robin Prentice, Dave Bourgeois and Brent Harper. The coaching staff consists of manager Charlie Bourgeois, coach Dave Bourgeois and assistant coaches Dave Jackson and Ivan Geer. The team's next home games are Friday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. against Newcastle and Saturday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. with Omemee providing the opposition. See you there!
