Mary Cannon, president, welcomed all and open- ed the meeting with the repeating of ~ the Auxiliary Prayer. - Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted as such. The treasurer then gave her report. The Corr. Sec. had sent out 4 thank-you notes, one thinking of you, and one sympathy card. Again we received a lot of lovely knitting and Hazel Coates has lots of wool on hand. Mary and Joyce gave interesting reports from the Fall Conference which had been held in Oshawa. The pie and knitted goods sale, which was held on October 17 was a good success and we do thank each and every lady who contributed 'o this very worthwhile effort. Have you noticed our two new show cases at the Tuck Shop and the Tuck Shop buyers have been shop- ping for Christmas. A good chance to do your Christmas gifts shopping at the Gift Shop. The Durham Board of Education and its Elementary School Teachers have ratified a 1986-87 Collective Agreement which will be effective until July 31, 1987. The new contract applies to approximately 1,700 employees in the Board's Elemen- tary Schools. The increased cost of salaries and benefits for the Board is $4,006,500. For the period September 1986 to January 1987, teachers will receive an increase of 4.1 per cent with a maximum of $48,208 for the most ex- perienced and highest qualified. Our second hymn was ; sung "Un- to the Hills Around, Do I Lift Up My Longing Eyes." . Pat Kingstone opened the business with a poem "Be Thankful For Our Wisdom." Margaret Ann Lamb conducted - the Bible study in the absence of Diane McKinzey, followed by prayer. Diane will have November meeting at the Church, Nov. 6th at 2 p.m. A delicious lunch was served.
