SO. ae. THEE VR TMT, TNR LT 16 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 11, 1986 Young people return for commencement Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader On Wed. evening of last week, 13 members of the "Head" UCW met af the home of Mrs. Clara Dowson. Since they don't have a December meeting, the trend was noticeably of a Christmas nature. It was noted some members were incapacitated for the time being. Others are con- sidering an early winter vacation. We are pleased to hear that Lenore Blueman seems to be improving, * tho' still in hospital. Marion Hughes misses an occa- sional cheery call from the members. For a change this year, the Mystery Sister Supper will be held at Club Annrene on Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. -- Exchange gifts can cost $4 to $5. They will also enjoy part of the evening in Bingo. Members regret not being able to cater for the Island Choir concert in Dec., but will look forward to the April concert. Perhaps next Dec., the help situation will improve. Last week, Chrisltena Prentice's operation in Toronto was a success as expected and she is recuperating quite well with the expectation that she will be moved back to the Port Perry hospital after the middle of this week, so you can send your cards there. | don't know how much ANNOUNCEMENT "General Coach Hensal, Ontario / Oliver, British Columbile General Coach is proud to announce the purchase of the Corsair Motor Home. On Wed. evening, Nov. 5, could you imagine looking into the Com- munity Hall and seeing 25 Guides and Cubs seemingly glued to their seats fascinated with a 2 hour speech by Police Sergeant Roger Minaker of Sarnia, Ontario for 30 years but now retired? His speech Youth group prom entitled "Law Awareness' natural- ly covered many areas familiar to the children and many in their near future. Many of the children had a story or a little experience of their own to tell. After their interesting evening they were surprised to learn that their speaker was the father of one of their leaders, Mrs. Roddy Bar- nhardt, who had invited her father to come. It was felt that many of the patients would also have enjoyed be- ing present and learning some of the work that is being done for their children.
