| Pineridge Atoms enjoy three-game sweep On Friday, November 7 the Pineridge Atoms started their three game weekend with a 5-0 win over Newcastle. Just 1 minute into the game Michael Williams scored unassisted. With a 1-0 lead going into the se- cond period, two goals were scored by Neil Mueller from Brent Harper as a result of great forechecking pressure. Also scoring in the second period for the Pineridge team was Billy Sandiford from Todd Smart and Corey Bricknell. With only 41 seconds left in the game, Todd Smart who had shown good hustle on defense and offense throughout the game, capped the scoring with a quick blast from in- Goreski Insulation streak to 7 games Goreski's 4 Blackstock Merchants 2 Goreski's continued their winning ways racking up win number seven in a row by dumping the Merchants 4-2. The first period was well played between both sides until with just 1:30 to play Tom Powell set up Dave Dickson for a Goreski lead they wouldn't lose. Four minutes into the second frame Powell and Dickson again connected for a 2-0 lead. With 4:51 left to play Blackstock pulled to within one when Wayne McGuigan assisted Ron Wagg. Goreski's then got 2 quick markers in a row to build up a 4-1 lead. Bill St. John from Ed Sexton and Powell unaided did the final damage. With over a minute to go Blackstock pulled their goalie, but only managed 1 more in the dying seconds with Wagg and McGuigan clicking again. Utica Farm Equipment 1 Emmerson's Insurance 1 Utica took over sole possession of second place with this win. They took an early lead in the first period on a goal by Murray Down, assisted by Dermot Doyle. This was the only goal, until with 5:44 to play Utica struck again this time the marker going to Ken Lynde unassisted. Emmerson's tried a valiant com- eback but fell short, scoring 1 on the power-play in the dying moments. It went to Jack Saunders from Niel Woodrow. Oddfellows 0 B & L Donuts 0 These two clubs remain tied for the basement position just 1 point back of Emmersons. In this affair the 2 remained deadlocked after two periods and went into the 5 minute total goals overtime. B & L had the upper hand in the overtime but came away empty. side the blue line. Jeff Card drew the assist. Steven Stiles and Steven Gilbert who continue to give the team great goaltending, combined for the shut- out. On Saturday the Pineridge Atoms hosted the Omemee team. Todd Smart started the scoring just 11 seconds into the game with Simon Traynor drawing the assist. Dave Bourgeois then scored unassisted to give Port a 2-0 lead. Jeff Card then scored a nice goal assisted by Billy Sandiford. Omemee scored what would be their only goal to close out the period with a 4-1 lead for Port Billy Sandiford scored Port's on- ly goal of the second period assisted by Jeff Card and Todd Smart. An action packed third period saw Port score five goals. Billy San- diford scored two goals to get the hat trick and complete a four point night; Jeff Card got a goal and an assist to end his night with four points; Todd Smart got an assist to give him a three point night and to give that line a total of eleven points for the game. The other goals were by Neil Mueller from Brent Harper and Dave Bourgeois his second from Joey Broadworth. Port completed the three game weekend sweep with a 2-1 victory in Cobourg on Sunday. Cobourg scored with five minutes left in the game to narrow Port's lead to one goal and then continued to apply pressure. Misty Andrews, through great determination and speed helped stop a breakaway late in the game and preserve the lead. In each of the weekend games, the Pineridge team used great hustle, team play and heads-up hockey to earn their well deserved victories.
