Sei: he --_-- Novice Auctioneers A win, finally! by Brenda LeFort On Friday, November 7 the J.P. Pearce Auctioneers faced off against the Lindsay team in a return match-up. Lindsay opened the scoring mid- way through the 1st period on a squeeker goal past goaltender Bran- don Hammond. Port continued to apply pressure but it wasn't until early in the 2nd period that Port got on the scoreboard on a beautiful goal by centerman Kenton LeFort who was there to score from a centering pass by fellow wing man Billy Zaparanuik. Great work boys! Minutes later Lindsay scored and ended the period 2-1. Even though Lindsay broke out in the 3rd period to score 5 unanswered goals, the Novice No.1 continued to fight back making many rushes but could not seem to penetrate the Lindsay goal. Way to keep trying boys! The game ended Port down 7-1. On Saturday the J.P. Pearce Auc- tioneers travelled to Bowmanville for what was to be one regular league game but were treated to back-to-back games against the Toro's. The 1st period remained scoreless until the 6 second mark when Bowmanville took the lead. Early in the 2nd period Kenton LeFort put in Port's 1st goal of the game as he combined with Timmy Fitzpatrick and Ryan Williams on a super line effort. Great passing boys! Port had many scoring oppor- tunities but were robbed by the Bowmanville netminder. Port took the lead early in the 3rd period on a picture perfect goal by Timmy Fitzpatrick with Kenton LeFort and Sandy Mark picking up the assists. By the midway mark in the 3rd .period Bowmanville had gone ahead 5-2 but Port never gave up and at the 5 minute mark Kenton LeFort picked up a pass from defenceman Greg Thompson, raced up the ice and rocketted it upstairs for his 2nd goal of the game. Two minutes later Port's Sandy Mark scored the 4th of the game on a scramble in front of the net with Kenton LeFort and Jay Tredway assisting. Port pulled their goaltender in favor of 6 attackers who did just that as they pounded at the Bowmanville net but just couldn't seem to score. Super try team. Bowmanville scored once more to end the game. Port down 6-4. After a short rest the boys laced up their skates for a rematch and seemed even more determined to win. Port opened up the scoring on a beautiful lone effort by centerman Jay Tredway. Less than 2 minutes later wingman Jeremy Geer made a great pass to Jay who put in his se- cond of the game. Bowmanville struck one past our netminder by Billy Zaparanuik who played a solid game of hockey along the boards put Port ahead 3-1 on a beautiful goal with Jeremy Geer and Jay Tredway assisting. In the second period Jeremy Geer turned on the jets to beat the Bowmanville goalie and put Port ahead 4-1. Playing sc':d hockey Port continued to challenge the Bowman- ville defence and at the midway mark Tommy Chambers picked up a pass from Ryan Williams and blasted it between the pipes. Jay Tredway, having a terrific - game scored his 3rd goal of the game to complete his hat trick at the close of the second period. As the 3rd period drew to a close Jay Tredway netted his 4th goal of the game assisted by Jeremy Geer. Super work Jay! Scot Prechitko and Brandon Ham- mond made some sensational saves in net and the defensive lines of Matt Morris, Jay King, Gavin Carnegie and Greg Thompson proved to be veryt effective as they continued to foil the Toro's rushes. 5 Year Annual Interest 03/8" Rates subject to change without notice hh family Trt | APPLY TO DON FORDER INSURANCE BROKERS LTD. 30 Water Street, Port Perry 985-8471 Pre-Christmas Sale on all ...
