The immediate family were present ... namely: Ian and Gloria Scott, Charles and Jennifer of Corbyville, Richard and Janice MacKenzie, Claire and Leslie of Nestleton, and Ralph's sister Mrs. Vivian Weatherall of Oshawa. Caesarea Card Game On Wed. evening, Nov. 5th, a fine attendance at the Caesarea Centre with the first prize going to Gwen Robins with an excellent score of 87. .Second prize not far behind was won by Russ Scott with 81. Two tied for low score - Ron McDuff and Del Marlow each with 46. Congratula- tions to all! A tasty lunch was prepared by Pat Mathewson and Gwen Robins and served by Gayle Pelrine and Gwen. We would like to see more ladies attending the euchre - the menfolk outnumber the - women. Faith Lawrence and Anne Harran tied for 14 lone hands for the month of October. All members are asked to attend this important meeting. Blackstock & District (Cartwright) Lions Club At the Lions Club meeting held this past week guest speaker was Mr. Bill Brown Director of CNIB. It was a great feeling for the Club to be able to present a cheque for $2415 - the results of the canvass throughout Cartwright in aid of CNIB. The response was terrific ... much higher than last year and the Lions extend warm appreciation for the generosity of the fine folk throughout Cartwright for their sup- portive effort! The ongoing program for the Lions Club is '"We Serve" and Cartwright is "We Care." Family Concerns On Thurs. last, Karen Evans of Raglan, entertained luncheon guests in honour of Margit Not- tingham, Norm Mairs and Dianne Slute's birthdays and for Shirley Butt's wedding anniversary. Eileen Malcolm gave the devotional on "Silver Linings." Often we miss the happy times by being concerned about the sad things. We miss the blessing of our children and realize it when we are retired. We sang "All Things Bright & Beautiful" and Eileen led in prayer. The minutes were read and approv- ed. Corrie Malcolm gave the treasurer's report and Eileen Malcolm the flower report. Dale Davis presented a very strong ser- mon on the theme 'Carrying the Cross' taken from portions of Luke and Matthew. The Sacrament of Baptism was most impressive with Arnold Williams assisting the minister, when Brandon Michael, son of Deb- bie and Mike Jordan was baptized. Laurel Hansen and Herb Vine stood with the parents. The Sunday School children were upstairs to see the ceremony. Carol Mairs ably played the piano for the service and accompanied Bernice Mairs, and Mabel Cawker when they sang a lovely old number "He Touched Me." After the church service- a love- ly baptismal buffet luncheon was held at the home of Mrs. Helen Vine in Port Perry, in honour of the oc- casion. Those present for the event were Carol and Don Jordon, Shelley and Dale of Janetville, Herb Vine, Chris and Carlyn Vine and family, Laurel and Tom Hansen, Darlene Vine and Arnold and Jean Williams. George and Ella Bowers were unable to attend. District Meeting Attended 18 officers from the Branches throughout Ontario South District Women's Institute gathered at the very lovely, spacious home of Mrs. John Hamer on Monday, Nov. 3, 1:30 p.m. in Brooklin. District presi- dent Mrs. Alva Thompson of Port Perry conducted the meeting. The Provincial Board Director Mrs.Louella Lewis of Mount Albert briefed members on many impor- tant phases of Institute work.
