-- aA roe a il ann EEN AER ed kin mat ARLE pou Brownies sell brownies Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Don't forget this coming Sat. Nov. 22 at the Community Hall, 11 to 2 p.m., it is a big day for the Christmas Bazaar for the Mother's Auxiliary of Guides and Brownies when they have their Bake and Craft sale. Now there will be many other attractions too. If ladies wish to bring vases, flower arrangements of silk will be supplied for them or they may purchase other ar- rangements. Tupperware goods will be available. Mary Lang will be there with her special chocolate display. A salesgirl for Tops 'n Trends will also be present with her samples. Tickets will still be available for a raffle of 3 money prizes, the first of which is a one hundred dollar bill. The draw will be made on Sat. Oh, yes, there will be the favourite flea table too for toys and books. Sounds like a busy 3 hours to say nothing of the prepara- tion. We owe a great deal to ladies who give their time to training leader- ship and planning worth while events for the Guides and Brownies. We understand that last Sat. the Island group joined with Port Perry when they went a few miles north to the Nonquon Conservation Area sponsored by the Durham Board of Education to view nature at this time of year with birds and animals. There is also a museum there and it is only about 5 minutes from Port Perry. The children had a supply of sunflower seeds for the birds and happily followed the various mark- ed paths thro' a designed route. Ap- parently there is no charge for this educational time with nature. We know how successful the ladies of the Friendship UCW have been with their planned pie sales. Now, they are planning a sale for Dec. 6th, 10 .m. to 1 p.m. at the Island Church. This will surely help you with your Christmas entertain- ing. This time it is a cookies and squares. You can give an advance order by calling 985-3730 or 3939 for $3 for one dozen assortment. This is something you can freeze for those busy days or even a dainty gift. Last week the "Head'" UCW and friends were pleased to serve at the Hospital Tuck Shop. This Mon. they entertain at the Nursing Home and hope to give the residents fun in games of Bingo. This occasion is to celebrate seven November bir- thdays. On Wed. Nov. 26, it is hoped all members can get together for the Annual Mystery Sister Supper. After a few months of illness, we regret losing two former residents of Scugog Island, two men who were raised on the Island from childhood. "Harry Brown and Fred Jackson. Fred was always very proud of his ability to witch for water locations. The Scugog Pastoral Charge ~on- gregations met last week and agreed to invite a lady from the Bay - of Quinte Conference to minister to our congregations. In the meantime, guest speakers are still supplying the Pastoral needs. Next Sun. Rev. Barry Pogue of Oshawa will return again. At the last "Head" UCW meeting, there were several messages of ap- preciation from Reta Rodman, Bon- nie Gerrow, Kathy and Tom Ham- mond, Sandra and Willy Houthuys. The Scugog Social Planning Coun cil will meet again Mon. Nov. 24th. same time and same place. PENS Pencils - Markers All Colours PORT PERRY STAR 235 Queen Street 985-7383 You are invited ...
