On November 23, 1946, Mildred Alice Stone, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Stone became the bride of Mr. Kenneth Richard Rodd of Uxbridge. On November 2, 1986, Ken and Mildred were guests of honour at a surprise dinner party to celebrate the occasion of their 40th Wedding Anniversary, hosted by their children and held at the Magic Car Restaurant in Oshawa with approx- imately forty close friends and relatives in attendance. Following a buffet dinner, everyone returned to the home of John and Shirley Foster for cake and coffee and an evening of humourous reminiscings. Ken and Mildred expressed their sincere appreciation to all those present for making this momentous occasion so very special. Guests were present from Pitt- sburg, Penn., Ottawa, Brooklin, Sunderland, Uxbridge, Port Perey and Seagrave. Pine Grove Christmas service Epsom and Area News by Jean Jeffery The Pine Grove Christmas Carol Service is Tuesday, December 9 at 8 p.m. at their church. The Van Veghel family, Trinity Men's Choir and Mrs. Jean Parrot will present the programme. Gord and Jill Postma; Nancy and Gerald Hill and family; Doug and Beth Wilson were supper guests on Sunday at the home of Faye and ; Keith Ashton to celebrate Gord's birthday which will be on Tuesday. Most of the family visited with Keith Ashton on Sunday. Beth Catherwood who has been staying with her mother returned home. Mr. Roy Menagh of Ineivic has been attending a conference in "Toronto and paid a short visit to the Baster home this weekend. Julie Baster was also home from Guelph. Miss Joanne Archibald has been visiting her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson. Her brother An- drew Cameron Archibald arrived 'safely at Newmarket Hospital on ~ Friday morning. Congratulations. Elizabeth Taylor and her daughter Ruth of Sundridge visited the Royal Winter Fair with Rick and Dianne Blaylock Earl and Elizabeth Taylor attend- ed the wedding of George Henpen and Michelle Gordon at Ajax on Saturday. Those from this area who went to High School with Tom Granger were saddened to hear of his death at age 36 and feel deep sympathy for his mother, his wife and children and all family 'members. The Ruhl family were all home for family dinner recently. French students enjoy theatrics of Laliberte On Wednesday, November 12, the French Immersion students of R.H. Cornish Public School were treated to the singing, music and comedy of Francois LaLiberte. Accompanied by his fiddler Richard Massie, Francois proceed- ed to involve and enthrall his young audience. Using such musical in- struments as the spoons, comb, drum, harmonica and mandolin, Francois and Richard had students and teachers singing, dancing and clapping. Originally from Sherbrooke and now living in Ontario, Francois has been performing and giving workshops in schools for the past six years. Librarian Colleen Power receiv- ed an autographed copy of Francois LaLiberte's newly released album 'Les dauteries." Judging by the en- thusiasm of the students it should become a popular tape. Francois LaLiberte was able to perform for the students by the French Immersion Parents Association. Two other perfor- mances are scheduled for 1987. Theatre de Petit Boheur will be per- forming the play Rose, Rose, Rose in February. Acadian singers Cor- ~ mier and Deschenes will be at R.H. ~ Cornish in April for two perfor- mances. A family concert is being planned for June. The French Immersion Parents Association hopes to bring many more singing, theatre and dance groups like Francois LaLiberte for the enjoyment and cultural enrich- ment of the Immersion students.
