At but it was just not enough to over- come the lead built by the Chiefs over 40 minutes. Lakefield struck for three markers in the first period as Terry Maxwell, Chris Delaney and Jamie Reynolds beat Brian Tarleton in the MoJack cage. Two of these goals came on two-on-one breaks as the Chiefs showed some fine speed in breaking out of their own zone and catching the MoJack defenders out of position. In the second period, with Paul Goreski in the net for the MoJacks, the visitors padded their lead to 5-0 with Maxwell and Delaney again do- ing the damage. On both these goals, the MoJacks were guilty of leaving the front of the net un- protected and Goreski had little chance to make the stop. The MoJacks finally hit the scoreboard early in the third as Rob Baker set up Sean Bradley for a short-handed marker. But the Chiefs went to work in the power play a couple of minutes later and Sullivan McMahon made it 6-1. It looked as if the game was way out of reach at this point, but the Mo- Jacks were not quite dead. At the mid-point, captain Andy Sutch, who worked his heart out all game and was foiled on several good chances, banged in an un-assisted marker. Then late in the game, the Mo- Jacks took advantage of some ~ Laukefield penalties to score three quick ones. Mark McVety made it 6-3 at the 18:07 mark. John Hartford made it interesting with 35 seconds left with assists to Dave Burnett and McVe- ty. And the final gasp came with just eight seconds on the clock as Burnett rapped one home off a wild scramble. In game four Larocque Electric fried Galley Fish & Chips 6-3. Lakefield is on top of the Don Ogden Division and the team plays a fast-skating brand of hockey. Chief netminder Scott Scheller, who barely reaches the cross-bar, put on quite a display with some brilliant stops and some of the MoJacks were wondering what they had to do to get a puck past him. Scheller kicked aside 16 shots in the middle frame, many of them good scoring chances, His work in this period probably made the dif- ference in the game. The MoJacks were without three regulars for this game. Defensemen Clay Dempsey and Jim Lewis sat out the second game of suspensions - from November 21 in Lindsay and Bob St. Jules missed the contest due to illness. Rob Baker, Brad Traves and Dave Burnett filled the spots in the line-up. The game was a chippy affair with tempers short on both sides, especially in the third period when the MoJacks took a dozen minors and the Chiefs were called for ten. The MoJacks travelled to Cobourg on Monday night (December 1) for a match with the Cougers who have been struggling this season.
