Bantams open with losses The Sportsland Bantam B Team opened the second half of their schedule with a couple of losses. The first came to the hands of Millbrook. In this game, if the first four minutes did not exist, the boys vould have came away with a 5-2 victory. But the first four minutes were the scoring times for Millbrook as they scored 4 goals. The final outcome was a 6-5 win for Millbrook but the Sportsland team played an excellent game in coming back to make it close. Scorers for Port Perry were Kevin Mantel, Eric Grosvenor, Goreski wreck crew demolishes Lindsay Last Wednesday evening the Goreski Bantams hosted and demolished Lindsay 14-3. Every player that participated in the game for Goreski recorded at least 1 point. Port controlled this game from the outset. It only took the squad 1:24 of playing time to get on the scoreboard. Goreski's scored 5 goals in the first period, 7 in the second and 2 in the third. This game was a continuation of the good play displayed in Cobourg the previous weekend and should allow the boys to do well in this weeks games against Stouffville and Bowmanville plus the annual Bancroft Tournament. Todd Taylor led the way in this game with 1 goal and 5 assists. Sean Bradbury scored twice and assisted on 3 others. Claire Cornish scored another hat trick and also added one assist. Derek Fitzgerald scored twice and added 1 assist while Mike Sorley and Kevin Gibson each scored once and picked up 2 assists. Brian Appleby pitched in with 3 assists. Big Jason Weinhold added 2 goals with singles going to Chris Legere and Paul Wylie. Paul Allen and goaltender Brad Bricknell each added one assist. Bruton"s IDA lose out to Oshawa A's On Saturday, November 29, the Bruton's I.D.A. Petites played an exhibition game in Port Perry against an Oshawa A team. Port Perry came out on the short side of the scoreboard 10-3. Scoring for Port was Denna Lovering, 2 goals, Kelly Menzies 1 goal, Jennifer Morden 1 assist, Michelle Fitzpatrick 1 assist, and Kim Poppleton 1 assist. After Saturday' s game all the girls rallied on Sunday, November 30 in the second meeting of the season against Pickering. Port Perry set the pace in the game and with 2 short handed goals stopped Pickering cold with hard work and extra effort. Tracy robbed the Pickering shooters and played a steady game between the pipes. All the Petites deserve credit for a comeback against Pickering after their loss against Oshawa! The second game of the week saw Sportsland host Bowmanville. With a few breaks in this game the out- come might have been different. At the start of the second period the score was 4-3 Bowmanville. Up until this point the Bantams had . played a hard hitting, tight check- ing game against the opponents. With the second period almost over Bowmanville scored 2 goals in 40 seconds and that took all the air out of the balloon as the game finished 9-3 for Bowmanville. Up until this point the boys had put the pressure on the Bowman- ville squad but could put the puck in the net. Goals in this game for Port Perry were given to Ron Davis, Chris Carr and Gerry Douma and assists went to Shawn Phillips, Eric Grosvenor, Lee Phillips, Jarett Har- man, Todd Poppleton and Paul Teno. Rough game The Port Perry Pee Wee "A" Legionnaires hosted Stouffville on Friday, November 28. The visitors scored four goals in the first period in a rough penalty filled game. Brian Madill began the goal- tending duties and kept the second period scoreless. The third period was close with Stouffville scoring first. Port Perry finally put one on the scoreboard on a nice shot by Jason Cochrane from Chris Forder to end the game on losing side of a 5-1 score. Unfortunately, Stephen Laird was injured during the game. We wish him a speedy recovery. The Legionnaires travelled to Lindsay on Sunday, November 30 for the first match-up with this team. Shawn Larocque started in net for Port this game, which ended up a 1-1 tie at the end of the first period. The Legion's goal was scored by Jeff Parry assisted by Mark An- drews and Brett Puckrin. 'The second period began as a see- saw battle between these evenly matched teams but Lindsay came on strongly at the end of the period scoring four unanswered goals to lead the Port team 6-4. Goal scorers for the Legionnaires were Joff Parry, Jan Heyes and Dan Sluggett. The last period was close with both teams scoring once to end the game 7-5 for Lindsay. Port's lone goal was by Brett Puckrin assisted by Steve Staniland.
