Honorable mention for artist Another painting by Port Perry artist Leslie A. Parkes was cited among the works of artists from across the province for Honourable Mention in Excellence at the Visual Arts Mississauga's Ninth Juried Show of Fine Arts. The award was presented last November 24th in the Gallery of Erindale College, U. of T. in Mississauga. Break-ins are on the increase (From page 1) homes were away when the break- ins occurred. At the home south of Uxbridge, thieves broke through the front door, locked the family dog in the cellar and thoroughly ransacked several rooms before making off with a colour TV, a micro wave, silverware set, video cassettes, a shot-gun, camera, $300 cash, $400 worth of wrapped Christmas gifts, a quantity of liquor and even cann- ed food from the kitchen cup-boards. Citrus fruit drive-- not bad! We would like to thank the com- munity for supporting us with the annual citrus fruit campaign. It is greatly appreciated, as we sold 222 cases. Not bad for a little school! The top seller is Claire MacKenzie with 15% cases; the second top seller is Esther Kelly with 16 cases. Congratulations. If you have not picked up your fruit, please come to the school as soon as possible. This Thursday, the Grade 13 classes will be going to see Agatha Christie's '"The Mousetrap" at the Toronto Truck Theatre. Later, we will be going to Ed's Warehouse for dinner. It should be a fun day! Our Christmas dance will be held at the Blackstock Recreation Cen- tre on December 18th. This semi- formal occasion should turn out to be a great success, so please make plans to attend. The Christmas Banquet is set for December 19th. The students and Student's Council are busy prepar- ing festive and surprising activities for the last week of school. Curling is well underway, under the direction of Mr. Scott. Topping the scores in Monday night curling is Scott Fletcher. Natalie Green's team is in first place for the Tues- day night curlers. The playoffs are scheduled for early January. Our senior girl's basketball team, under the coaching of Mr. Fletcher, are the silver medalists of the Single 'A' Durham, York Secondary School Athletic Association. Our girls were defeated by Langstaff, but it turn- ed out to be a very close game. Congratulations girls!
