Book Cade HOMANS FAMILY FASHIONS UXBRIDGE PLAZA, HWY. 47 S. pm OPEN 9 TO 9 852-3633 | MasterCard | NOW UNTIL CHRISTMAS & SATURDAY 9 TO 6 by Wendy Clark During the day on Monday, November 24, the Caravan Clothing Company set up shop here at the Nursing Home. Several of the residents added to their wardrobes. Tuesday, 17 residents were in- vited to Case Manor in Bobcaygeon. On the way we stopped at the Bon Fire Barbecue in Lindsay which we thoroughly enjoyed (especially dessert). Upon arrival at Case Manor the residents received their friendships and made new ones. Everyone engaged in a game of "Name That Tune." Although Bob- caygeon won they gave us the trophy as a token of their friend- ships. They then served a nice lunch for us and extended an invitation to us to come back again. Wednesday was baking. The ladies made up some loaves and shortbreads. Thursday, we were all extremely busy finishing up our crafts in time for the bazaar. To end the week -- on Friday the Nursing Home held a bowling match against the Villa. The Nursing Home came out the winners with a score of 359 to 338. On Saturday everyone gathered at the windows to watch the Annual Santa Claus parade. By the end of the parade everyone had great big smiles on their faces. To keep along with the spirit of things, we all en- joyed a nice cup of hot cocoa after the parade. Now the busy month of December has blown in so quickly. Basically any activit: is that were going on in the first week were last minute preparations for our Bazaar. Everyone was either engaged in do- ing some baking, crafts, pricing, 'decorations, etc. Monday night a coffee hour was held and many of the residents were able to get their Christmas cards Residents shop at the Caravan ready for the mail. Wednesday a Bingo was put on in the afternoon. Congratulations to the winners. Thursday, December 4, the Scugog Island Choir & Friends came to entertain us. We all thoroughly enjoyed the skits, the singing, and the goodies afterwards. At the end, we journeyed off to our rooms with a candy cane in our hands. Thank you to these very special people who have come here to brighten up our Christmas Season. Saturday has finally arrived. Our Annual Christmas Bazzar took place. We successfully had a good turn out. More details will be available in the next column. We would like to extend birthday wishes to Mr. Art Hyland (Dec. 12), Mrs. Frances Cervanka (12), and ~ Mrs. Jessie Goode (15). Just a reminder that the residents annual Christmas Party is on Thurs- day, December 18. Letters have been sent out to the families contain- ing all of the information you need to know. If anyone has any questions concerning this matter please feel free to give us a call at 985-3205. At this time the residents and staff would like to send their condolences to the family of the late Mrs. Nan- cy Brown. Nancy was a fellow employee and worked as the Activi- ty Director here for many years. She began working at the Nursing Home in April of 1978. In her extra time she attended school and achieved her Activity Directors Cer- tificate. She then took over the posi- tion in Activation in June of 1980 till September 1985 when ill health forc- ed her to remain at home. Nancy spent many extra hours enriching the lives of the residents and being a friend to one and all. For this we will never forget her as her memory will live on in our hearts.
