A . good number of members and their families turned out to enjoy a delicious pot luck supper. After sup- per, Marlene Schillings played the piano to lead us in a sing-song of Christmas Carols: Much to the delight of our Junior Garden Club and younger children, Santa Claus arrived to hand out the gifts for prizes won during the year. Anne MacIntyre was presented with the Paul Johanson cup for com- ing first in the Flower Garden Com- petition last summer, 2nd was Dini Oosterholt, 3rd- Alice Turcotte. Alice was also presented with the Paul Johansen Trophy for coming first for her Vegetable garden and the Analda Trophy for highest points during 1986. Second anc third for their Vegetable garden was Mary Moore and John Kingstone respec- tively. Grace Bajema was second for highest points and Alice Dodd third. Lisa Ryan, Alice Turcotte, Ber- nice Mairs, Anne MacIntyre and Grace Bajema were presented with free film development donated by the One Hour Photo Lab for their winning pictures judged at the Blackstock Fair. The monthly com- petition "Woodland Treasures" an arrangement using Fungi, drift- wood and dried flowers was won by Shirley Love who was quite delighted with the Amaryllis Bulb donated by Dowson's Valu-Mart. Alice Turcotte came second and won a lovely scented Pomander - donated by The Personal Touch Shop, third was Grace Bajema who RENT 7A & WATER the Garden Club received a box of chocolates donated - by Bruton's Drug Store. The Junior Garden Club competition, a pine cone project was won by Kim Coates, 2nd- Katie Coates and 3rd- Jason Fudge. Mrs. Isabelle Challice, Regional Director for District 17 Horticultural Society installed the Officers for 1987. Executive elected: Kathleen Petrie- President; Rika Wygerde- Ist Vice-President; Paul Johansen- 2nd Vice-President; Claudia McDiarmid- Secretary; Ria Hoogeveen- Treasurer. Directors: - Pat Kingstone, Mary Moore, Anita Mazzarolo, Henka Bandstra, Anne Woud, Alice Turcotte, Grace Ba- jema, Ida Hurtig, Marilyn Pertan, Liisa Ryan, Claudia McDiarmid and Shirley Love. Winners of the door prizes were: Mr. Challice who won a beautiful Christmas cake donated by Kreative Kitchens Cakes & Sup- plies; Alice Turcotte won a measur- ing tape donated by Cashway Building Centres and Roy Smith won an Almond cake, baked and donated by Grace Bajema. This was the Garden Clubs last meeting until March, which is the 10th Anniversary of the founding of the Garden Club.
