4 i On Saturday, December 13 the Bruton's 1.D.A. Petites hosted a Scarboro team losing by a score of 9-4. Port Perry faced off against Scar- boro for the second time this season. Port Perry played hard in their meeting with Scarboro, but found out that out playing and out shooting . the other team doesn't always end up in a win. Scoring for Port was Denna Lovering 2 goals, 2 assists, Amy Parliament 1 goal, 1 assist, Jennifer Morden 1 assist and Valerie Payne 1 assist. Valerie Payne came up from the "C" team to help us out! Thanks for your help Valerie! Port Perry's defense kept the Scarboro shooters in check and kept the shots on goal to a minimum. Port's forwards buzzed around the opposing net and had their chances, but they couldn't get the ring past Scarboro's quick goaltender. All the girls worked hard and deserved a better outcome, but they Petites defeated 9-4 by Scarborough girls will have to wait for the next meeting against Scarboro! On Sunday, December 14 the Bruton's 1.D.A. Petites hosted an Etobicoke team winning this game with a score of 18-0. Port Perry's game plan against Etobicoke was to allow some of the other girls opportunities to score, get assists and practise their pass- ing.. The girls had chances to play different positions and to learn dif- ferent aspects of the game. Amy took over in net for Tracy in this game allowing Tracy to play out. Amy wasn't overworked, but, when called on she made some good stops and deserved the shut-out. Scoring for Port was Tanya 6 goals, Kim 3 goals, 1 assist, Jennifer 3 goals, Michelle 2 goals, 2 assists, Chrissy 1 goal, 4 assists, Lyndsay 1, goal, 3 assists, Denna 1 goal, 2 assists, Kelly 1 goal, 1 assist, Tracy 2 assists and Shannon 1 assist. Scoring for Smith's in a hard fought game were Bob Lee from Carl Durward and Bruce Smith from Dennis Sims and Dennis Anderson. Earning the shutout was Doug McSween. The weekend started off by play- ing Fenelon Falls and after a slow start and trailing 1-0 part way through the second period the Goreski squac red 6 unanswered goals to win 6-1. Todd Taylor scored twice as did Kevin Gibson. Mike Sorley and Jason Weinhold each counted 1 marker. Gibson and Taylor also added 2 assists with _ Sorley adding one. Sean Bradbury, Brian Appleby, Paul Wylie and Derek Fitzgerald all added one assist. Goreski's second game on Satur- day night was against the Oshawa Major Red Wings. After another slow start the boys trailed 3-0 after 2 periods of play. It was only a matter of time until Goreski's scored the winner as they out- numbered Oshawa on the ice 2 skaters to 1. Fitzgerald finally scored the winner assisted by Sorley. This took the boys to the cham- pionship game on Sunday evening against the host Bancroft team. Taylor opened the scoring for Port in the first period assisted by Gib- son and Wylie. Bancroft tied the game in the second period before Pee Weesinaromp The Port Perry Pee Wee "A" Legionnaires played a team from Port Hope and won solidly by a 12-3 score. Port Perry's Jason Cochrane scored the opening goal with assists from Jan Heyes and Chris Forder. Both teams worked hard in the first period and Port Hope were able to score twice before Port Perry was able to score again. But after that we scored 5 more times. Jan Heyes - scored with the assist to Jason Cochrane and then picked up a beautiful pass from Ken Winslow and Jody Logan to score his second goal in a row. Jody Logan chalked up the next goal after catching a re- bound shot made by Steve Staniland. Mark Andrews picked up Port's next goal with the assists coming from Jeff Parry and John Collins. Jason Cochrane found the net after catching a pass from Jan Heyes and Ken Winslow. Port Hope started to feel the pressure in the second period and started to get rough. By the end of the game they had 65 minutes in penalties and will be short a player and coach next game. The rough work only spurred Port Perry on and the Legionnaires scored 6 goals in the third period. Jason Cochrane scored three times in the third period to give him a five game total. The Club Level Playdowns for the Seagram Mixed will be taking place at the club on December 27 & 28. Two teams are still required for the Senior Mixed competition. This event will be held at the Whitby Curling Club from Jan. 3-6 and is open to people 50 years of age or over as of July 1, 1986. All eleven players for the Goreski squad plaved ex- cellent hockey all weekend and the goaltending of Chris McConnell and Brad Bricknell was second to none. On Wednesday night we played host to a squad from Peterborough in a league game. The boys controll- ed this game from start to finish and ended up winning by the score of 7-2. Fitzgerald opened the scoring assisted by Taylor. Gibson gave Port a 2-0 lead assisted by Chris Legere and Appleby. Lindsay then closed the gap before Port took over and finished off the visitors. Wylie started - things off assisted by Taylor. Sorley then scored assisted by Bradbury. Legere then broke out of his scoring slump assisted by Ap- pleby and Paul Allen. Weinhold con- tinued his hot pace scoring his. 3rd goal in 4 games assisted by Sorley and Bradbury. Legere then finish- ed things off after being set up by Wylie. - Goreski's t travel to Cobourg Tues- day night and then host Stouffville on Wednesday night in their last league game before Christmas.
