We grew so tired of rain in late summer and were pleased with the beauty of the first snow but had almost forgotten the hazards of snow and the sad accidents caused by it. Therefore at this time we are remémbering Phyllis Tetlow who was raised on Concession 9 on the Island and later became Mrs. Haines and has spent her married life at Tyrone. We wish to convey our sympathy to her and her fami- ly in the sudden loss of her 23 year old daughter in a driving accident last Tuesday. The Island concert at the Hall on Friday and Saturday nights brought full crowds and the different type of supper was thoroughly enjoyed. The Friendship U.C.W. are cer- tainly going to become excellent and experienced bakers with their pie 'sales and now cookies and squares. Their 1st project on Saturday with assorted dozens was very suc- cessful. Counting 33 early orders their sales totalled 90 doz. Then this Wednesday they have their pot luck luncheon and cookie swap at the church for their December meeting. At the Island United on Sunday, Dr. McKay, whom we have welcom- ed before was the guest speaker. Plans were also made for Carolers to go out Monday evening to the Nursing Home and various homes. The children are getting excited over their approaching Christmas concert on Sunday, December 14 and therefore will practise after school on Thursday night. Pre-teens of boys and girls and friends 9 to 13 yrs. will have their Christmas Dance Saturday night at the Hall at 7:30 to 10 p.m. - December 13 with a charge of $2 to cover expenses - this is sponsored by Mothers Auxiliary of Guides. With so much excitement in the air over Christmas, I'm sure it's dif- ficult to think of New Years Eve. But if you intend to go to a danceiit's time to make your plans. As usual there will be one at the Island Com- munity Hall and all you have to do to make your reservation is call Sharen Bobbie. Looking for A Place to Advertise Your Business? LOOK HERE!
