Pearce Auctioneers clin- ched 2 big wins this weekend as they totally dominated the Bowmanville and Port Hope teams. On Friday night Port hosted Bowmanville and the fans were treated to a very fast skating well played game of hockey. Port open- ed the scoring on a beautiful unassisted goal by Sandy Mark. Bowmanville scored their lone goal 1 minute later ending the period 1-1. The second period remained scoreless with both teams having Petites lose 10-5 On Saturday, December 20, Bruton 1.D.A. Petites travelled to Milliken Mills in Markham. In a 10 to 5 loss Port Perry got off to a slow start against Markham and never did get on their game, un- til the second period, but by this time it was to late. The only scoring for Port was Denna with 5 goals and Kelly with'4 assists. Good effort girls! The defense of Tanya, Michelle and Jennifer along with partial play by Shannon worked hard. scoring opportunities but a display of superb goaltending by Port's Brandon Hammond and Scot Prechitko kept Bowmanville off the board. As the 3rd period unfolded center- man Jay Tredway broke into action as he netted Port's final 2 goals of the game. Jay's 1st goal was a pic- ture perfect unassisted break away goal and the next was a tip-in goal from the stick of Gavin Carnegie and Jeremy Geer! The game ended Port 3 - Bowmanville 1. With one game under their belt the Novice No. 1's travelled to Port Playing short with the loss of Kim and Lyndsay in this game took its toll and without some good stops by Tracy, it could of been worse! This sets up a rubber match with Markham and the girls hopefully see now that you have to be ready right from the opening buzzer, along with a good team effort! With all the Christmas festivities beginning the Port was left short handed but were lucky as they were able to bring up, a very fast skater, Todd Parry to fill in on wing. Jay Tredway st. tc | the ball roll- ing in the 1st period as he raced through the Port Hope defence and blasted the puck home with only 43 seconds into the game. The line of Kenton LeFort, Todd Parry and Tommy Chambers combined fast skating and excellent team work to mark up Port's next 2 goals. Wingman Todd Parry was right there to put in goal No. 2 for Port on a great passing play by Tommy Chambers and Kenton LeFort. Nice work boys- Midway through the se- cond period Kenton LeFort tipped the puck up over the Port Hope net- minder with defenceman Matt Mor- ris picking up the assist. Port's next goal came from a perfect play as Jeremy Geer pick- ed up the pass from Greg Thomp- son, raced down the ice, dropped it over to Jay Tredway who was out front to beat the Port Hope net- minder! Great passing play boys! With less than 2 minutes remaining in the game Port's Timmy Fitz- patrick combined with fellow linesman Jay Tredway to end the game Port on top 5-0. The line of Jay Tredway, Jeremy Geer and Timmy Fitzpatrick have all been playing solid heads-up offensive hockey set- ting up beautiful passing plays and really giving a 100 percent effort all the time. Keep up the good work boys! Billy Zaparanuik, Matt Morris and Greg Thompson played fabulous on defence today back checking and clearing the puck ex- pertly out of Port Perry's zone. Nice work boys! Rev. Stuart McEntyre officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Hennie Povey of Port Perry, and Murray Jackson of Napanee. The groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Durward of Port Perry. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a beautiful gown of satin and lace with a fingertip veil. Cathy Knapp of Oshawa was maid of honour. Bridesmaids were Meredith Jackson (sister of the bride), Mrs. Tilly Durward, both of Port Perry, and Miss Cathi Hircock of Oshawa. Janine Jackson, cousin of the bride, from Lakeside, was the flowergirl. Steve Redman of Port Perry was the best man. Ushers were Chris Durward, brother of the groom, Scott Sandison, and Raymond Gibson, all of Port Perry. The ring bearer was Kevin Durward, cousin of the groom, from Sonya. After a reception at Blackstock Community Centre, the couple honeymoon- ed in Florida. They now reside in their home in Greenbank. Petite C's win It was a busy week for the Petite C's who played against teams from Ennismore, Lindsay and Sunderland. On Sunday, December 14 the team showed great strength and spirit defeating the Ennismore team 11 tc 4. Team captain Valarie Payne led the scoring with 6 goals and one assist while Amanda Webb had three goals and one assist and Leea Kinnunen also scored twice and had one assist. Novice girls Deanna Dempsey, Linda Payne, Cindy Verschuveten and Shona Moase helped the team overwhelm the op- Junior 'C' Hockey SCUGOG ARENA position. Deanna and Linda had assisted on goals in the second period. On Wednesday night, the team was held to only one goal by the very strong team in Sunderland. Ex- cellent goaltending by Sarah Coyne and strong leadership by Valarie Payne helped to keep the team spirits up in spite of the goals against them.
