3 i iE bs He Goreski's plan for mobile park A proposal by Allan Goreski, of - Goreski Summer Resorts to build a mobile home park on the south end of their property on Scugog Island met with no initial opposition at the Monday morning meeting of 'council. Mr. Goreski told council of the plans to build a small site for eight permanent mobile trailers on their land, because of requests by their customers for permanent dwellings. - "Right now our trailer owners are restricted to staying in their homes from about May 15 to the end of Oc- tober," Mr. Goreski told council. "We would like to build an attrac- tive park that would be affordable for retired people or first time home buyers," he said. 'Goreski's are proposing to develop the southern part of their . property with an access road and eight 50'x125' lots, which would re- main the property of the Resort. Tenants wishing to live here would" buy their trailers and then lease the piece of land. Roads leading to the homes would be maintained by Goreski, as well as collecting taxes, hooking up the services and making sure the pro- perties were maintained to the stan- dards set out in the lease. ~ Council made no decisions about the plan, but said they would discuss it further at a future planning meeting. No other sites (From page 6) planning designation in conformity - - with regional and local Official Plans. Changing the designation can be a long, and difficult process with objections taken to the OMB. Mrs. 'Lafarga said this a crucial factor i in site selection. 7/ the price of the site must not be "exhorbitantly above the appraised "value." re OTHER SITES Mrs. Lafarga told the meeting the School Board has looked at six other possible sites in Port Perry for the "new school. She identified each of . the sites and why they were ruled. . out. She also said the Board needs a site in northwest Port Perry because there already are schools in the central and southern areas of the community. In most of the sites ruled out by _ the Board, the major draw -back was the lack of municipal services. 1/ Simcoe St. just north of the Vachon Plant: not serviced and too close to R.H. Cornjsh on Queen ° Street. 2/ the Kalb Farm also on Simcoe St.: not serviced with sewer and water. 3/ a piece of property right across from the Fairgrounds on Simcoe St.: too small. 4/ a parcel of Township land im- mediately east of Scugog Arena. Not enough frontage on Durham Rd. 8 and not serviced. 5/ Brooks Farm on Lilla Street: no services and designated for residential. 6/ land owned on Simcoe Street" north by the Township: not servic- ed 'and too close to an industrial mall. These are the reasons why, the School Board has pressed for the Fairgrounds site for the school, despite the strong opposition from many members of the Fair Board. It is also for these reasons, said Mrs. Lafarga that the Board decided to expropriate, a process they hoped they could avoid.
