January has pass- ed us by and while we have all been recuperating from exams, the halls of P.P.H.S. have been returning to their normal hustle and bustle. During this break, Nancy Green, visited the Terry Fox centre in Ot- tawa meeting people from all across Canada. This year we are selling CHS winter jackets. If anyone is in- terested, talk to Joy Werry. * On Friday evening everyone twisted and shouted to the music at our fifties soc-hop dance. A sincere thank-you from the school to Mrs. Johansen (Ian and Kirsten's mother) and her company, Macken- zie Financial Corporation, who donated two prizes for spot dances. "Thanks a lot! Next dance is the Heart Dance on February 12th or 13th when the Heart Queen will be crowned, so plan to be there! The second schedule of curling starts on Monday and Tuesday this ~ week. On February 14 and 15 the Outers Club is going on a cross-country ski trip in Bobcaygeon. We will be ski- - ing into a hunt camp, staying over night, then skiing back out'again. We're all hoping for good weather that weekend. A reminder to everyone that Mon- day, February 16this a P.A. day for the high school and the public school. Our next selling campaign will be starting this month. We will be sell- ing chocolate bars. N I hope everyone does well on their final reports for the first semester. These will be handed out this week. 1987 is going to be packed full of fun activities so everyone get involv- ed and have fun! -- Borelians who's who of newest production Brad Prentice { Brad, an Uxbridge Secondary ~ School Grade 13 student has previously worked with. the Borelians in their 1986 production of "The Fantasticks." Most roles have been in musical productions, his first being "The Boyfriend' put on . by the Uxbridge Secondary Scheol with Bootstrap Productions and the Uxbridge Players in 'Hello Dolly,' 'The Temple of Fame, and 'The . Murder Room.' Brad enjoys travelling, sports, studying long into the night for Grade 13 final exams, and of course, acting. Brad is uncertain where acting will fit into his future but for the pre- sent is enjoying his role as 'Don Baker" in the upcoming production of 'Butterflies are Free." Tammie Lee Chilco Tammie Lee Chilco has the heart of an actress from childhood. through high school, and continuing into her adult life, she has ex- perienced her. talents on many stages. Her greatest achievement was to audition for the world-renowned Stratford Festival, an honour awarded her for her portrayal of 'Peggy,' in the Borelian 'Nurse Jane Goes To Hawaii." A dedicated community theatre advocate she has appeared in the entertaining "Birdseye Centre,' a home-grown | | _ adaptation of Jimmie Frise's car- toons, acted out a very ruthless Ruth in the "Effect Of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon-Marigolds," and more recently danced and sang through last year's Borelian produc- tion of "The/Fantasticks™ as Bellamy, Louisa's mother. , As a singer, Tammie Lee has helped to keep Town Hall 1873 alive through cabarets. She also has a busy schedule presenting the gospel in song with her husband and friends in "Chrysalis." Tammie Lee is currently working on the challenging role of "Jill"" in Music Theatre: He has also worked the Borelians upcoming production of "Butterflies Are Free" to be presented on the stage of Town Hall "1873, February 27th, 28th, March 5th, 6th and 7th. Turning to sports, we note Port Perry has been very active in the past weeks. The senior boys basket- ball team competed in the two-day Oshawa Times Tournament, which took place on Friday, January 30 and Sajurday, January 31. Port's team downed a team from London, Ontario, in first round action to ad- vance further. They then played Eastdale to come out on the winn- ing side of a ¢lose match. Their win- ning ways were finally halted by a' strong O'Neill squad when Port was beaten in a semi-final match. The team played some very good basket- .ball during the tournament. Good work, guys. ® The girl's volleyball teams are hard at work getting ready for up- coming games. The midget, junior and senior teams will play at Cour- tice on February 6 and the senior team will be competing in a tourna- ment at Pickering High School on February 7. Good luck, girls!
