A cordial welcome was extended to all. After the minutes and cor- respondence were read and approv- ed the programme for the coming year was completed. Joanna and Arlene Malcolm offered to maintain the church flowerbeds this year. Regenia Walker agreed to take the position of Vice President. Janice MacKenzie presented the devotional with the theme- "Volunteering and Commitment." The Scripture was from Genesis 22, followed by Prayer, to close this portion. Kay served a delicious lunch and a social time was enjoyed. Caesarea Euchre Results At the weekly euchre party, Wed. Jan. 28th at 8 p.m., at the Caesarea Community Centre, the following winners are to be congratulated. First prize- Judy Westall with an 85. Second prize- Eva MacDonald with an 80. Low score- Mary Poots with 47. Gloria Parsons and Carrie Miller "hosted" the tasty lunch. Next week as usual ... try to attend. The Ladies Auxiliary sponsor these games for a pleasant night out with neighbours and friends! - Nestleton United Church A fair attendance on Sun. Feb. 1st, for Nestleton United. Greeters at the door were David and Regenia Walker, Avril and Kyle. The * minister, Rev. Dale Davis continued his series of sermons' on the dif- ferent segments of the Lord's Prayer using theme- "Forgive Us Our Trespasses .... "" Seripture from Ephesians 4: 25-32 and Matthew 18: ed on "forgiveness." A sacred duet by Janice MacKenzie and Regenia Walker added much to the service. Gwen Malcolm- organist. After worship, a sandwich lun- cheon, cookies and beverage was --+-- enjoyed followed by the annual con- --- - - gregational meeting with a good at- tendance. Rev. D. Davis was the _ chairman assisted by Arthur Weir, Secretary. Many pertinent items of business were brought up and resolved with promptness and efficiency after .considerable discussion. Many new faces and changes for the year 1987. The meeting adjourned at 4 p.m. Happy Event Craig and Heather Jones, Scugog Point, are the proud parents of a - baby son, Joseph John, born in Oshawa Hospital on Sat. Jan. 31st. Mother and baby fine. A little brother for Leslie Ann and Heather Lee. Congratulations and warmest wishes from this area. Family Interests Mr. and Mrs. Eric Bernard and family of Port Hope, were Sunday supper guests with Calvin and Yvonne Holland of Nestleton. A fine visit was enjoyed. Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Point Road, had an interesting visit with Roy and Pat Halverson of R.R. 1, Nestleton on Sunday afternoon. Roy and Pat moved recently from Thunder Bay, and we welcome them warmly to this area and trust they will make many friends: ~ On Sat. afternoon, Curtis Cawker and Christine Kidd of Oshawa, were on hand with their super snow machines whiling away an hour or so about the farm. Glad to see them! The Sam Cawkers were Tues. visitors with the Alan Cawker fami- ly of Oshawa. Very pleased Eleanor is feeling much better after her so- journ in Oshawa Hospital. Nestleton } Presbyterian Church News A very good congregation on Sun. for the Nestleton Presbyterian Church. Rev. Fred Swann used Genesis 6: - the story of Noah and the sermon title was, "Noah a righteous man in an unrighteous world!" with many thoughts to take home. Mrs. Joyce Taylor presided at the organ. Next Sunday at 11 a.m. Meeting A Success The meetings held in the Caesarea Centre on Thurs. evening Jan. 29th 18: for parents only -information re- - 21-32. The children's story was bas- Outréach Child Abuse Prevention and Education - also the follow-up children's meeting held Sat. Jan. 31st, sponsored by the Ladies Aux- iliary were quite successful and ia- formative. Not as many attended as hoped for .. but .. most worthwhile! Caesarea Community Church A splendid congregation with 32 folks present on Sun. Feb. 1st, at the "friendly Caesarea Church. Rev. Dr. "W.H. Crawford's sermon was '""What Is Faith?" from Hebrew II: 23-40. The sermon dwells on Faith and as an example, used Moses' parents. They trusted and believed in God, and as a sign of their faith .. acted by putting Moses in a basket and sending it afloat on the Nile. This was God's wish and plan.
