Our first game at 6:30 p.m. was against the same Whitby squad who had handed us a loss the night before, but this time it was a dif- ferent story. As in the previous game Port took the lead witlfin the first minute of the game but this spurred the girls on and they never relinquished the lead throughout the entire contest making the final 6 to 4 in our favour. This game was won on pure determina- tion and hard work and it was good to see the girls put it altogether. Our next game was at 10 a.m. Saturday morning against a very good team from Blackburn and although the Port girls tried their best the wheels had fallen off from the night before and Blackburn won « this game 5 to 1. . : Our next contest Sunday morning at 8 a.m. was against another ex- cellent team from Cambridge. The Port team started strong and fast in this match and finished the first period with a 4 to 3 lead but with a rash of penalties midway through the final frame quickly found themselves under the gun by the. score of 7 to» which they couldn't overcome.
