See story for details. Carnegie Brothers turn over keys to propane after forty years After 40 years in the propane business, Gord and Harry Carnegie -are finally taking it easy. Last December the brothers sold their business, Carnegie Brothers Propane, to Blanchard's Supply Compan \ny, run by Joanne and Ted Blanchard. It was a big step for Gord and Harry, but one they wanted to make simply because they were "'tired." Throughout the years they have sold propane, for heating and business, they admit they'll miss their customers. 'We really énjoy the people who used to visit us, and of course, buy from us," Harry said with a grin. - The Blanchards, meanwhile, have major expansion plans for the pro- pane site on North Street, next to the newly constructed Tri-Port building. barbecues etc., from various loca- tions in Port Perry including their - home and the old Crest Hardware on Queen Street. And while they won't miss the The couple plans to start construc- tion of a store/showroom within the next month, with the hopes of mov- ing in by the end of June. Once the store is built, they'll be filling: it with supplies for pools, spas, sanitation and maintenance, as well as selling spas (there'll be one set up inside) 'and other: -Blanchards. products. Propane, of course, will be sold outside from a large tank. Customers are invited to pick it up themselves or have it delivered by a student working for the Ted and Joanne will have other help, however, from their daughter Jennifer and son Benjamin. And on . top of actual supply products, the store will be selling patio furniture- -and even sales techniques! Ted Blanchard offers professional sales training to anybody interested in retail sales, and while he will be concentrating on running that part of the business, Joanne will be focus- ing her energies on the store.
