Ivan F erguson Mountjoy was the vounger son of Norman and Margaret Mountjoy and was in his sixty-third year He married Margaret Hocken in 1947 and they took over the operation of his father's farm when his parents retired to Blackstock. He also operated a backhoe and trenching service and in later years expand ed into the sand and gravel business Always a great family man. Ivan was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, and he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Margaret. his son Brian and wife Judi of Richmond, B.C. his daughter Judy and husband Carl Gilbank and his daughter Linda and husband Bob Kyte, all of Blackstock. He leaves also seven grandchildren Kim and Kari Anne Mountjoy, Laura, Lisa and Kevin Gilbank and Bradley and Meghan Kyte. As well, he is survived by five sisters, Hazel Belyea of Oakville, Tela Wannan of St. Catharines, Muriel Hoskin and Aileen Byers of Blackstock and Audrey McNeil of Toronto, and one brother Bruce of © Blackstock. Ivan lived all his life op the fami- ly farm on Concession 1 of Cart- wright and attended No. 1 Cart- wright Public School and Blackstock Continuation School. He was a faithful member of Blackstock United Church where he had served on the Board of Stewards, 'Manse Committee and Session. Although Ivan's life was short, he lived it fully and his ac- complishments were great. He will always be remembered for his cheery smile, his happy wave as he carried out his daily tasks, his outgoing attitude and his ability to see the positive side of the life that he loved. He was happy when he could lend a helping hand especial ly at any community or worthwhile project. Ivan made the world a brighter and better place by his presence in it Ivan's delight of assocation with the land, the farm, and the animals remained with him from his younger days when his grandfather gave him his first driving horse. Young at heart he loved to share the companionship of his horse with his family, grandchildren and friends. Ivan and Margaret hosted an an- nual Mountjoy reunion every year for the descendants of his parents. The ccusins and relatives will always remember the horse-drawn rides and the farm animals. Typical of his generosity is the quote of a young grand-niece from a distant town as she proudly displayed her beautiful pair of rab- bits to her envious school chums - "Ivan gave them to me. Theyre from our farm." Ivan left a legacy of happy memories forever to be remembered by his wife, his son and daughters, his grandchildren. his brothers and sisters and a great cir- cle of friends. Following Interment in the Union Cemetery, Cadmus, the United Church Women served lunch in the Christian Education Building for an hour of fellowship.
