Nursing Home news PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, May 12, 1987 -- 17 Sing-song held at birthday party by Wendy Clark Our monthly birthday party was hosted on Monday, April 27 by the Port Perry U.C.W. We all joined in on a sing-song and some readings were read. Other activities were a quiz and a Bingo game. After all of the excitement we had delicious cake and ice cream and our special birthday people received their gift. An enjoyable time was had by all. Tuesday afternoon was bowling. Top scorer was Lionel Blaikie with 105 pts. Congratulations!! Church service in the evening was by the Greenbank United Church. The 29th was manicures. The ladies really enjoyed having the op- portunity to have their naiis done. In the latter part of the afternoon the residents were taken on a tour of the kitchen. They were very impressed with all of the modern equipment that is used. Lots of interesting ques- tions were asked. Thursday was a craft day. At 5:30 the Supper Club got together for a delicious meal of fish & chips from the Galley. Friday, May 1 was Binge. We had a really good time and there were several lucky winners. Over the weekend a ceramic class was taught on the Saturday. Monday, May 4 we began a new activity. "This special activity is a left-handed writing class. The residents that have an impaired right hand and were right hand _ writers now have some new hope of being able to write again. Later on a quiz was given on song titles and well-known sayings. Tuesday we had the priviledge of Mrs. Jean McDermont visiting and showing us slides on her trip around the world. We particularly liked Hong Kong & New Zealand and hope to visit there some day. During the evening the Port Perry Presby terian Ciuireh provided a service. Facials were dorie on the ladies on Wednesday. All of the ladies looked * really super all done up in make-up. Since they were all gorgeous we had to take them out for the evening. Therefore we headed out for a wonderful dinner at the BonFire in Lindsay and then went on our way to Bobcageon Case Manor Nursing Home for a Spring Prom. We all danced the night away to a great band and everyone overly enjoyed To nurses! "To heighten ~~ evéryone's awareness. the second week 1.1 May 1S set aside to pay tribute to the nur- sing staff of our community. So hats off to a great group of car- themselves. Refreshments were served during the entire evening. Thursday we had the travelling Comfort Clothing come and display their items. This is particularly an important company as they have regular clothes but also'have adap- table clothing for the impaired and for wheelchair residents. Mrs. Becky Gray won 10 percent off of her purchases in a lucky draw. We had a great resident involvement as they got to take part in a fashion show. What an experience' ' A bingo game was in progress after supper To end the week on Friday was' baking.
