Friday & Saturday night, May 22 and 23rd, at 8 o'clock, in Town Hall 1873, in Port Perry, the Borelians Community Theatre plans to pre- sent what they excitedly describe as a workshop production called "Moments." It will include juicy scenes from a number of favorite plays, under the capable direction of John Foote and David Millar. Ex- cerpts have been carefully selected from such works as Amadeus, Jit- ters, Death of*a Salesman, Equus, Waiting for Godot, Night Mother, Shadow Box and Cabin 12. Well worth the price of admission. 'Tickets may be purchased from any member of the cast or at the door on performance nights -- only $3.00 each. : John Foote is certainly not a newcomer when it comes to direc- ting theatre. After studying theatre at Humber College and method ac- ting at York University he has directed many plays including Barefoot in the Park, Prisoner of 2nd Avenue, Bent, The Cherry Or- chard and Gods Favorite - just to name a few. The scenes he will be directing in '"Moments" include deus, Cabin 12, Death of a Jsalesman, Equus, Jitters, Night Mother and the Shadow Box. As well as directing, he also en- joys writing plays. Since John. prefers directing Drama, '"Moments" should be a huge success. David Millar is also an experienc- ed director when it comes to theatre. On May 22 and 23, he will be direc- ting a twenty minute segment of Waiting for Godot. David is familiar with Port Perry as he directed The Busybody here a few years ago. He has also directed Equus with the Durham Shoestring performers and will be directing "The Dresser" next year at the Oshawa Little Theatre. Amadeus: This brilliant play details the all-consuming hatred composer Salieri has-for Mosart, a profane, silly genius. Salieri was condemned to be the only man of that time who truly knew that Mozart's music was timeless, in fact making Salieri's music, Mediocre. In our scene David Ellis portrays Salieri, discovering the brilliance of Mozart's work then telling God how he will destroy the genius. David Ellis: This marks Dave's eleventh season with the Borelians. In twelve years of acting and direc- ting he has been involved in produc- tions with the Oshawa Little Theatre ed Doubles," *"'Cabin 12." Scenes from Arthur Miller's famous "Death of a Salesman" will also be featured in the Borelians WorkShop production this Friday and Saturday evening. Dave has enjoyed acting in "Aunt Mame," "Western Weekend," and **Little Prince," as well as directing "The Second Time Around," "*Mix- "Of the Fields Late- ly," "Deathtrap," and **The Murder Room." In "Moments" he will be appearing in "Amadeus," "Jitters," and "Equus." | Cabin 12: This breath-taking scene stars Steve Foote as a boy recalling all the things he wanted to say to his brother but never did. His brother has passed away and now he must face the fact that he will never have the chance. We are fortunate to have Steve, an experienced actor, appearing in "Death of a Salesman," "Equus," "Jitters," "The Shadow Box,' and He has appeared in "Burried Child," "The Shadow Box," "Jitters," and some films. He has worked with the Shoestring players in the past, as well as the Borelians and has received a 'best supporting actor' award for his role in "Movie Moments." Death Of A Salesman: This is a powerful work that deals with the emotional breakdown of Willy Loman, who has watched his ~ American Dream decay in front of him. Battered be his world, at odds ~ with his beloved son, and fighting in- sanity Willy searches for something, A Way Out. This scene involves .Vern Vogel, who has appeared in "Hand That Cradles The Rock." Along with "Death Of A Salesman," Vern will also be appearing in 'Waiting For Godot." Susan Ellis has been with the Borelians since 1978. She appeared in Birdseye Centre and has directed several plays over the years. We are very fortunate to have Ed Daigle as Willy Loman. Ed is a very experienced man when it comes to theatre. He apprenticed with Earl Grey's Shakespearian Company and has made two educational movies with Atlantis. } Ed appeared in 'Buried Child" with the Shoesstring players in Oshawa and ... "Of the Fields Late- ly."" He took a character off a page in a book and made him eocme to life. (Also starring Steve Foote.) Equus: This stunning scene in- volves a conversation between Dr. Dysant (David Ellis) and Allen (Steve Foote), who has just blinded six horses with a spike. As the psychiatrist tries to discover the reason behind the boys outrage, he finds he is just as Conheed as the . boy. Jitters: five minute excerpt from this hilarious play. 'Jitters' is a fun play about Actors, Directors, Writers and everyone else involved in bringing a production to the stage. We will see a scene in which Steve Foote portrays a nervous, young actor just minutes before showtime. Night Mother: This scene which is both perversely funny and haun- ting, deals with a young woman's, need for death. It deals with the last twenty minutes of her life, during which time she explains to her selfish mother the reasoning behind her decision. This is a very powerful scene star- ring two relatively new members of the Borelians Chris Rollo was introduced to the Borelians when she brought her daughters out to the auditions for '"The Little Prince." She was given the part of the snake and has been busy with the Borelians ever since. She was the stage manager of "Murder Room" and has done some technical work in the past. Both were challenging jobs but handled very well. Tracey Saulnier will also be ap- pearing in Night cal work tor \bo a some, teehoical work kf] Borelians in the past, but this is her first performance other than in Theatre Arts when she was in high school. Though they have not done much acting in the past, they both appear to be very experienced actresses. The Shadow Box: This is a deep- ly moving work about cancer pa- tients living out their last days. We are taken through the stages of death and even inside their dreams and years. (starring Steve Foote) Waiting for Godot: This scene is a fine line between comedy and tragedy. It is done in this manner so that the audience may take from it what they like. Harry Young has recently per- formed in Amadeus; presented by the Whitby Little Theatre. He has also worked with the Bowmanville Drama Workshop and has directed several plays with the Cornwall Lit- tle Theatre. Phillip Sauer: is a new young ac- tor with the Borelians. He was ina production at Meadowcrest School in Brooklin entitled 'Free to be you and me." Phillip will be appearing in Waiting for Godot. (also starring Vern Vogel).
