Friday's aétivities begin early in the morning with the midway open- ing on the old arena pad and the sidewalk sale getting underway. A Kiddies Parade and Best Decorated Bike parade will take place com- mencing at 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m. the Steel Drum Band sounds of Jerry Jerome will echo onto the street from a stage set up in front of the Post Office. There will be plenty of activities for the kiddies Friday with a Magical Illusion Show taking place on the stage at 12 noon and again at 3 p.m. At the Library, organizers have arranged for two puppet shows - at 1:00 p.m. and another at 2:00 p.m. In addition to these activities the Steel Drum music will alternate with Karate Demonstrations and much more during the afternoon. Tickets for this perfor- . mance are now available from Judy McColl at the Scugog Memorial 'Library for $4 per person. Friday night you can be treated to a Bahamian Cook-out near the Festival Tent as staff from the Bahamas Tourist Office set-up huge barbeque's and serve traditional Bahamian foods. And in the Festival Tent the sounds of the Bahamas will ring-out once again as a band, flown- in from Freeport will entertain un- til 1:00 a.m. Saturday is shaping up to be another busy day with a variety of entertainment and demonstrations taking part during the day. There will be a Festival of Art at the Lake, which will feature many artistic and creative craft people from around the area as well as a show and demonstration of wood carving in the Latcham Centre by local carvers. NR ---- Also on Saturday, the sidewalk sale, steel drum music, karate and dance demonstrations, kiddies "EVENT Tennis Challenge (until 11 00 PM) LOCATION races, kids show with Ish and Len- ny, a canoe race at the lakefront, mutt show and arm wrestling will take up the morning and afternoon. Saturday night will be the Baha- mian Extravaganza in the Festival Tent with a floor show consisting of Bahamian fashions, Junkanoo dancers and other demonstrations as well as non-stop dancing to a famous Freeport, Bahamas steel drum band. Other activities are also in the planning stages, but organizers are holding back information on some of these until later. So make sure you don't miss this exciting weekend in Port Perry on July 9, 10, 11. Mark your calendar now and make sure you're around for the fun and excitement.
