Of special interest to the Blackstock United Church congregation was the commissioning of Elaine Barber and Verna Windrem. Glenn Larmer had the great honour of acting as one of those who "lay on hands" for Elaine Barber during the very im- pressive service. Mary Kellogg of Welcome was installed as the Presi- dent of Conference. Following the service a reception was held. After seventeen years of faithful service Bill Mahaffy has retired from the position of mailcarrier for Rural Route No.1, Blackstock, due to poor health. Grant and Lorna Edgerton will take over the duties. Better health is wished for Bill so that he can enjoy his spare time. Speaking of retirements, three of our long term teachers are putting away their books at the end of June. There will be a retirement Tea on ~ Monday afternoon June 15, 3-6 p.m. at C.C.P.S. in honour of Mrs. 'Gwenyth Thompson, Mrs. Jessie Gunter and Mrs. Kathleen Dorrell. All friends' are welcome to attend this special occasion. Congratulations to Pat and Doug Sleep on the arrival of a second grandchild - another daughter for Bryan and Gail Sleep. On Thursday evening, June 4 at 8 p-m. the Women's Institute will hold a meeting open to the public at the Town Hall.
