June 3. at 1:30 p.m. at the lovely home of Mrs Irene McKee. Mrs. Neta Fish welcomed the members and open- ed the meeting with the Ode and Col lect. followed by a poem. The minutes of the May meeting were approved as read by assistant Secretary Mrs. Winnifred Davison. and the Treasurer's statement was given by Mrs. Rika Wygerde, The roll call was answered by naming a Spring flower. Correspondence was + read. A District resolution re- Litter- ing and Vandalism which West Durham Women's Institutes are supporting is to be instigated with a ion through the Elemen- ~ tary Schools. ~ Plans were made for members who will be attending Blackstock In- stitute meeting on Thursday, June 4. to hear a speaker; and also the opening of Bowmanville Museum, Saturday, June 6. Suggestions for the exhibit "Now and Then'™ at Blackstock Fair were left with the fair committee. New programs for the year and membership cards were given out to those present. The secretary Mrs. Gwen Malcolm will be reimbursed for expenses of prin- ting programs...and appreciation expressed for the work involved. Two get well cards were signed for - members in hospital. A generous donation from a former president to be acknowledged with thanks. The usual Award to Grade 8 student with the most improvement in writing will be-presented at the graduation exercis® on June 25. . Blackstock Institute is to be in- 'vited to the July meeting at Nestleton Community Centre to hear the guest speaker. vMrs. Grace Bajema, convenor of Citizenship and World Affairs was in charge of the program. Caesarea Community Church Celebrates in Style The Caesarea Church was filled to the door on Sunday morning when they celebrated their 5th anniver- sary in grand style. Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford conducted the service and student minister Teo Hoekstra spoke. His topic - "God's New Cove- - mant"...a meaningful message. Many assisted during the ser- vice Jerry Jonkher led in Prayer, and Rev. Van Harmelen & Arden Maschke read the Scriptures. Rev. Charles Clarke gave the Benedic- tion. Organists Anne Maschke' & Kathy Watts. Lovely music was enjoyed. Karen Buchanan sang a solo and Lynn and Norma Arney sang a duet. Leandra Tromans on clarinet and Esther Maschke on flute played a duet. A highhght was a poem written by Frank Arney especially for the an- niversary and read by daughter Norma. The Primary Sunshin€ Club sang as well: A note of congratula- _ tions is in order for these dedicated . workers in Caesarea Church, We surely wish them well as they com- mence their 6th year!
