Cartwright Minor Softball action, scores On June 1 at Blackstock Fairgrounds Asselstines Yamaha beat Swain Seeds with a score of 14-8. For Asselstines Ryan Peters and Melissa Donnelly hit homeruns Ronnie Kelly got a triple and Jen- nifer Johnston hit a double. Charlie Black, David Gainey, Tara Curle, Jennifer Pashley and Jennifer Johnston all hit singles. All team members rotated to most positions and had a great time. For Swain Seeds Mandi Crowder got a homerun. Derrick Malcolm played a great game with a triple, a double, a single and he also did a great job of back catching. Singles were hit by Shauna Hasall, Glen Williams and Kyle Buller. Fabulous pitching was done by Allan Rich- mond. The *'play of the game' was a great out at second by David Crouter. ~ On June 2 Swain Seeds met H & M Wright Sox at Caesarea. Swain Seeds was victorigus with a score of 24-12. For Asselstines Ryan Peter played an outstanding game with a double, two singies, a great catch and a fabulous double play. Doubles were hit by David Gainey, Melissa Donnelly, Jennifer Johnston, Justin McQuaide and Ronnie Kelly. Singles were hit by David Gainey, Justin McQuaide and Brennan Malcolm. For Swain Seeds, Derrick Malcolm hit a homerun, a triple and a double. Allan Richmond also hit a Soccer results Minis & Two games played this week saw Port Perry Star shutting out Port Perry Auto 6-0. Atoms On Tuesday Prestige Hair and Denny Metals fought to a 2-2 tie in a well played game. A good save by . Tommy Chambers on a penalty kick in the first half kept Prestige Hair in the game and goals were scored by Max Gallagher and Brian Nash. . Scoring for 'Denny Metals were Matt Phoenix and Darren Kinnuen. Another 2-2 tie Wednesday bet- 'ween Denny Metals and R. & S. Leather Sales. Again Matt Phoenix scoring with 1 and Ryan Duff 1 goal- and an assist. Sandy Mark scored both goals for R. & S. Leather Sales and was assisted on one by Aman- da Webb. Great back catching was done by Scott Sutton and Nicole Leach. Busy Day June 15 was really a busy day with yet another game at Nestleton. This one was between Blackstock Lions and Davidson Fuels. The close game ended with Blackstock winn- ing 20-18. Homeruns were hit by Chris Beacock & Cory Wilson. Cory also hit a triple as did Andrew Frew. Doubles were hit by Bill Vine and Don Hughes, Chris Stevens, Cory Wilson, Peter Simms, Chris Beacock, Kyle Russell, Don Hughes, Martin Stubbs, Bill Vine, Kevin Ellis, Bill Johnston and Andrew Frew all hit singles. Bill Vine and Chris Beacock made outstanding pitches while Cory Wilson, Peter Simms and Bill Vine ° did a' great job of pitching. Cory Wilson's game winning RBI triple i in the bottom of the seventh and Biil ° Johnston's put out at third base were both outstanding plays. On June 15 the fourth game was played in Port Perry between Causeway Esso and 'Lil Gators. The Gators won with a score of 21-10. For Causeway Esso Daryl Dutkewich hit a homerun while triples were made by Chris Bryant and Andy Wilson. Mike Bardeleben got a double and Brendan Agnew, Terry Park, Jay Buma, Daryl Dutkewich, Mike Hepburn, Heath Hudson, Jeff Kemp and Mike Bardeleben got singles. Fabulous pitching was done by Jeff Kemp, Daryl Dutkewich and Terry Park. Daryl also made an outstanding catch. H & M Wright were victorious over Asselstines Yamaha on June 16 at Caesarea. The score was 20-7. Melissa Donnelly hit a homerun and doubles were hit by Ronhie Kelly, Jennifer Johnston, Justin McQuaide and Charlie Black. Jenny Wilson, Ronnie Kelly, Brennan Malcolm. Grapd Slams Port Perry Kinsmen beat Super Spuds at Blackstock on June 16 Mike Leeming and Sean O'Donoghue both got grand slams Mike also hit another homer as did Brad Morton and Gordon Bently Bantams On June 15. Port Perry Bantam boys soccer team played the Darl ington team The team was led by Mike Toye with 2 goals and defensively by Dean Stone who made several good stops to preserve the shut-out Other scorers were Shawn Plain and Mike Kosurko to end the game with a final score of 40 PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 23, 1987 -- 31 Matthew Bradburn hit a triple and Brad Morton hit two doubles. Singles were hit by David Kemp, Scott Nesbitt, Blain Pelrine and -Steven Kyte. Jason Logan made a great catch. Brad Morton & Jason Logan shared the great pitching. Excellent fielding was done by Katherine Ellis, Lori Boyce, Tracy Doyle and William Michel. The score of the game was 214. On June 17 Port Perry Kinsmen played Turners Green Giants at the diamond:in Caesarea. Turners led 'the entire game and the Kinsmen were three runs behind in the bot- tom of the 6th. Kinsmen scored four runs to win with a final score of 11-10. For the Kinsmen David Kemp hit a triple and a double while Brad Morton, Mike Leeming and William Michel hit doubles. Singles were hit by Jason Logan, Matthew Bradburn, Steven Kyte, Blain Pelrine and Jeremy Malcolm Outstanding catches were made by Tracy Doyle and David Kemp. Runs batted in by David Kemp and William Michel tied and then won the game. For Turners Green Giants, Mike Nash, Sean Lewerentz, Scott Goble and Brent Donnelly got triples. Brian Nash got two doubles while Sean Lewerentz and Wendy Han- dyside got a double each Outstanding catches were made by Sean Lewerentz playing short- stop and Brian Nash in centre field Lil Gators win the fight for first PEE WEE BOYS The battle for first'place between Port-®errys Lil Gators and Blackstocks Causeway Esso was won on Monday by Lil Gators 21-10. Both Ken Barber and Chris Pax; ton of the Gators had 2 H.R. (to the fence even). Darryl Dutkewich of the Esso tgam also had a solid H.R. Chris Bryant made some heads up base running against a couple of er- rors made by the Gators. A close game was played in Nestleton between Blackstock Lions and Davidsons Fuels with the Lions on top 20-18. Craig Leask and Shawn Larocque did some excellent pit- ching while Jeremy Davidson and Nick Churchill were solid behind the plate. Coach Ellis said that his whole team deserves the credit for the win. Squirt Girls June 16, 1987 Port Perry Star won their first game of the year over the Gord Lewis team 17-12. Ellen Justynski made some good defensive plays and Lori Dale was solid on 1st base for the Star team. Tanya Towns and Lorri Thomp- son both hit HR.'s for the Gord Lewis team. The still undefeated Cummings Backhoe team won another battle over the Seagrave team 22-5. Lynd- say Dutkewich hit 2 HR.'s and 2 doubles, while Joanne Boyce had a solid triple for the Backhoe team. Lori Busher had 3 good hits and good fielding for her team. Julie Brobbel also had 2 good hits for her Seagrave team.
