Guess what? Something of in- terest? Well! What do you know...they are having the "Auction Sale of the Century" And it's this coming Friday, at 5:30 p.m. at the church. You won't want to miss it! They will be selling many items of interest...which you just might want to bid on! As well..a "mammoth" Bake Sale is an exciting feature...which could take your fancy! Delicious home baking for your weekend pleasure! Try to attend this "once in a lifetime" event...an Auction and Bake Sale with Don Cochrane...the affable Auctioneer! (For further in- formation see Auction re-Port Perry Star) Enjoyable Bus Trip The members of the Honeydale - Women's Institute were out for adventure on Thursday last...taking a delightful bus trip to Fenelon Falls...with driver Jim Hadley at the helm. Over 30 members and friends stepped on the Freeman Bus in Port Perry, Thursday morning for a day of relaxation, putting Educational projects aside briefly for a "bit" of fun! Upon arriving at our destination, Dorothy Tindell, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, presented a brief "rundown' of important things to see and do. We also had a tour of Swedfurn Canada Ltd., Rosedale Furniture...which proved to be very interesting. After a bountiful luncheon, - shop- ping, visiting and so forth, we mov- ed across the street...and standing on the bridge above the Falls, gaz- ed at the fascinating operation of the House Boats going through the locks. Of historic interest - this year marks the 100th anniversary of the first boat's passage through...after the completion of the locks. The return trip home...about 4:30 p.m. we felt it was a fine outing...and we wish to thank con- venor Clara Warren for the pleasant day! It was terrific! Caesarea Community Church A full house on Sunday morning at the Caesarea Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford taking his text from Galations 6: 2 - entitled, "Sharing Each Others Troubles." Janessa Gibbons led the Responsive reading and Arden Maschke read the Scripture. Kathy Tromans was in charge of the children's church. Music - Anne Maschke and Kathy Watts. ' A large tongregation and quite a number of family members witness- ed the beautiful ceremony of bap- tism...a Christian Sacrament mark- sikkens Cetol 1 and Cetol 23 ILC A -- = Sikkens [¥ LI} ed by the ritual use ot water and ad- mitting the tecipient to the Christian Community. Rev. Crawford baptiz- ed two year old Shane Travis Gor- don and infant Alane Heather Pari- sienne, in an impressive ceremony. The minister welcomed members of the two families - a very fine service! Wedding Anniversary Celebrated Frank and Lynn Arney of Caesarea, celebrated their 25th wed- ding anniversary on Saturday even- ing, at Nestleton Community Centre with approximately 125 family members andvfriends present for this joyous occasion. A very moving ceremony was conducted by Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford when Frank and Lynn renewed their marriage vows...and a new wedding ring was placed on Lynn's finger. All members of the immediate family were there for this special time - Norma, Joyce, Ruby, Steven and Shawn. A delicious buffet was served at 10:30 p.m. Dancing was enjoyed. A lovely evening for the Arney fami- ly and we extend our warmest con- gratulations from the area for many more anniversaries! Social Notes of Interest Mr. and Mrs. Lon Smith of Seaforth and Mrs. Hilda Frueh from Detroit (Midway Park Florida friends) and Mr. Howard Grills of Brooklin, were visiting with Roy and Doris Nottingham this past week in Caesarea. Mrs. Elva Fleury of Brockville has been visiting her cousin Marion and John Hall of Williams Point for the past two weeks. John Hall is just home from Port Perry Hospital...and we do wish him better health from now on. Our "best" to him! Mrs. Neta Fish and grandson Chad of Nestleton, visited with daughter Audrey & Jim Leishman and family for a few enjoyable days this past week, returning home on Thursday, in time for Craig Hollands exciting birthday party which his mom Yvonne had plann- ed. Many more 'happy birthday's" to small Craig. Our little neighbour 10 year old Scott Davis of Nestleton, had a great trip visiting his grandmother in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was there for three weeks with grandma Christina Henderson and reports a wonderful time...with many new in- terests and adventures...as well as getting acquainted with his relatives in Bonny Scotland. Guests with Sam and Mabel Cawker during the week were Cur- tis Cawker of Oshawa...a dinner guest on Thursday. Nestleton United Church The friendly greeters at the door on Sunday morning were Russell and Edda Bowman of St. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, August 11, 1987 -- 11 Sale of the Century on this Friday night Christopher Beach. A fair number attended for holiday time. Rev. Dale Davis used familiar hymns much to the delight of the congregation and his sermon theme was, 'The Needy and The Needed." His meditation based on Romans and Matthew gave us much to think about. A pro- found message to light the way home and the rest of the week. Matthew Hill accompanied by his mother Carol on the piano sang a pleasing number and applause greeted him when he finished. Keep up the good work Matthew.
