Donald and Stella were holidaying near Emsdale for a few days last week, while there, they attended the Emsdale Fair. We hope for continued prograss for Mrs. Luella Bailey and hope she will be home soon. Earl and Elizabeth Taylor went to see a couple of plays at Stratford on Wed. They visited Elizabeth's brother near Listowel, then visited their son John, daughter-in-law and granddaughter in London. Ray Taylor was not home this weekend as he had the misfortune to break his ankle, so Earl and Elizabeth took a picnic lunch and enjoyed it with Ray on the lawn at Whitby. Earl and Marie Wilson were visiting Howard and Bernice Thax- ter of Beaverton on Tues. evening. Dennis and Carol Irwin, Mark and Tim arrived home Thurs. night from a three week trip west as far as Alberta. Mrs. Neil Laird visited with Ruth Ashton on Sunday. Mrs. Ashton and granddaughter Julie called on Gor- don and Jean Jeffery after attending the funeral of her cousin Mrs. Milton Howsam. Kenneth and Beth Catherwood visited with Ruth Ashton on Sunday. Mr. Roy Wilson of Cobden was visiting with his relatives in the area over the weekend, and attend- ed the Wilson family picnic in Kit- chener with Elmer and Ruth Wilson and Miss Ruby Wilson on Sat., Doug and Beth Wilson and family also attended. Several from the area enjoyed the Steam Show at Quaker Hill on Sunday. Ruth and Elmer Wilson, Earl and Marie Wilson, Roy and Ruby Wilson had Sunday dinner at the home of Lawrence and Olive Evans of Uxbridge. Our sympathy to the families of Mrs. Dennis Thompson and Mrs. Haliburton Clark who passed away Friday in a tragic accident. The Kerry family had a lovely surprise one evening last week when Mrs. Kerry's brother Arnold Stear- man called to say he and his wife would be at their home for supper. Arnold had been working in New- foundland all summer but had been recalled to his Edmonton base and so was calling on his way home.
