Anniversary Party Hosted A lovely dinner party was "hosted" by David & Regenia Walker, Avril & Kyle of Scugog Point on Sunday last. Guests were Regenia's Mom & Dad, Herbert & Eugenia Hill of Oshawa, who had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary (Sept. 14). Other special guests were Mrs. Hill's three sisters and their husbands which they hadn't seen for some time...these couples hadn't had a get-together for 41 years - what a great occasion! After the festive dinner, what a time of visiting and catching up on news of the families! 6 year old Avril and 4 year old Kyle Walker had fun too...they put on a show for Grandma & Grandpa Hill, and their Aunties and Uncles. Dr. George Moore of Port Perry, as guest speaker, the 142nd Anniversary Service of Nestleton Presbyterian Church, was held on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. Mrs. Joyce Taylor, organist accom- panied Mr. Robert Heayn, guest soloist who sang two meaningful numbers, 'I Am Not Worthy" and "I Asked The Lord." The Psalm reading was Number 651 - Psalm 96, and Scripture reading St. Matthew 14: 22-33. Rev. Fred Swann welcomed all visitors, and a special welcome to Rev. Dr. Moore...an old-time friend. Following the Service, a pot-luck luncheon was held in the Sunday School room, and a time of fellowship with visitors and friends enjoyed. Centennial Fashion Show A Fashion Show - "Then & Now" in keeping with Blackstock's Centennial is planned for Sept. 23, 7:30 p.m. at the Blackstock Rec. Centre. Fisher to the pulpit and thanked her for the worthwhile message she brought. He also presented the Church notices. Choir practice for both J; and Sr. Choirs begins this Thursday. Family News Lawrence & Gwendolyn Malcolm of Nestleton, were Friday luncheon guests of Ted and Lenore Hoar. Heritage Apartments, Lindsay. Yours truly is very happy to have my better half, Sam, home again, after a few days in Oshawa General Hospital. We trust he'll be "right as rain" before long now. A sincere thank you to many relatives and friends for kindness and concern when Sam was ill. It was much appreciated! Sympathy Extended We were saddened to learn that a good friend and member of Nestleton United Church and UCW, Helen Vine of Port Perry, has suf- fered the loss of her fiance, Gordon Campbell who died suddenly while undergoing surgery this past week in Kingston General Hospital. Gor- don and Helen were to have been married, October 3, in Nestleton United Church. We - from the + Nestleton Community offer sincere sympathy to Helen at this trying time in her life. Gordon was a highly respected resident of Peterborough, and until recently was employed by The Peterborough Examiner. He will be sadly missed by so many. We "indeed" regret his passing! Our sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Milton Stephenson or R.R.I, Nestleton, in the death of Mrs. Stephenson's brother Mr. Lloyd Brunt. Interment in Nestleton United Church Retnstery; on Friday last. Sympathy to Jim & Frances Gib- son (former residents of Nestleton - now residing in Oshawa) in the loss of their adopted son Bruce who pass- ed away recently, as the result of an accident. Autumn has arrived. We celebrated the last day of summer this past Monday - ahead - we'll look cast...warm, sunny days and the turning of the leaves, with each bush turning of the leaves, with each bush and bough in the countryside, grand and gloriously coloured in different hues of gold, red and brown. Before long we'll hear the honking of the geese as they pass overhead...and of course...this is harvest time...the grain has been harvested - early this year - and the corn yet to be done. Gardens were productive and being harvested for winter use. A wonder- ful time of year! Let's enjoy it to the fullest - take a "hike' through this gorgeous land of ours, and treasure this beautiful fall season to the utmost!
