An extensive visit Home from western trip Greenbank and Area News by Helen McKean The Beares have returned home from an extensive visit to the West. They report excellent weather and a warm welcome while visiting their relatives in Kelowna, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina. Ladies do plan to attend the after- noon U.C.W. meeting on Wednesday morning, October 7 at 9:45 in the church. We'll be enjoying a trip to the Yukon & Alaska, through the eyes of our travellers, Muriel Gib- son and Helen McKean. Congratulations to the Gordon Beacocks, on the birth of a baby boy - Lendon Gordon last week. On Sunday the McKeans visited Penny & Kari Fitzgerald in Ajax. Granddaughter Kim and her hus- band Tom Taylor joined the family for Helen's birthday party. Helen's sister Anne Wills and friend Alice Bell visited her on Saturday. Recent visitors of the Armour McMillans were Mr. and Mrs. An- dy Davidson of Lindsay. The Elmer Wilson's of Balsam called on them on Saturday. The evening Unit of the U.C.W. are meeting at 8 p.m. on October 7 in the church. Their guest speaker is Mr. Bryan Davies, a Port Perry lawyer who will speak on Family Law. Everyone is welcome. There will be no service in Green- bank Church on October 18. It is the Pinedale Church Anniversary Service. Mrs. Irma Washburn and boys of Mississauga accompanied her mother, Mrs. William Walker on a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Couves last Saturday. Doris and Harry Hill have return- ed recently from a spectacular twenty-three day tour of the Orient. On their travells they spent one night in San Francisco before travelling on to Tokyo, Japan where they spent two days in that beautiful city of sky scrapers, enjoyed a cable car ride up Mt. Komagatake and a ride on the famous bullet train. They spent the next ten days in China, a country of one billion peo- ple, flying to five different cities, visiting a commune, walking on the Great Wall and cruises on the Some Florida sunshine Yet another commercial was filmed in Port Perry. The next four days were spent in Thailand with a cruise on the Chao Phraya River and a visit to the Rose Gardens, the Thai Cultural Village and the floating market at Damnoen Saduak. : The final stop of the tour was the clean attractive Island of Singapore where more sightseeing and a city tour was enjoyed before their flight home by way of Tokyo, San fran- cisco, Chicago to Toronto.
