Or stuffed, as in turkeys or taxidermy. : This pet show was for stuffed pets only, of the toy variety, and was a substantial hit amongst the 15 or so children who entered on Saturday afternoon at Scugog Memorial Library. Pets were judged in several tough categories, including Best Loved, Best Costume, Best Homemade, Best Name, Best Trick, Best Story; and Most Unusual. As in all beauty pageants, the en- tries- were paraded around the library to the lively tune of mar- ching music, proudly displayed by youthful owners. In fact, the children did most of the work in the contest, standing up and talking about their stuffed pets, while the pets, for the most part, nonchalantly kept their mouths clos- ed and ignored the whole situation. In the Best Loved category, for example, one boy stood up and said, "I got it when I was a baby and now I'm really used to it. And I love it." Another boy commented, *'I love it because my mom made it. It's the first one she ever made." As for the Most Unusual category, one young lady proudly stated, "This is my brontosaurus. I like him because he's green and soft and my Mom made him. It's name is Beth-- I named him after my sister. Irvine The Senior Citizens held their regular meeting on Wednesday, Oc- tober 14. The meeting opened in the usual way by the president followed by the singing of O'Canada with a good crowd with a few new members. After regular business was discussed, we were entertained by our own choir with a sing song under the leadership of the new choir leader Mr. A. Walker - it was great. Tea, coffee and cookies were then served. There will be a euchre on Wednes- day, October 21 at 1:30 at the Lat- cham Centre - come out and join us.
