Final yard work is done Seagrave and Ar-sa News by Diane Puckrin We were certainly blessed with fine warm weather this past weekend. Many Seagravers could be found getting the final yard work done before winter. The children en- joyed "trick & treating" under starry skies and even some adults -- very old adults were out and about Saturday night, spooking the neighbourhood. Congratulations to Maxine Lavereau and Heather Wray on their new business Sincerely Yours. They held their 'Open House' Sun- day afternoon to display a beautiful selection of gift baskets for every oc- casion at Heather's house. We Seagravers wish you lots of success and know you will put Seagrave on the map with your keen ideas and tastefully decorated gift baskets. Birthday wishes go out to Ted Sturman, Donna Wanamaker and Marj Dempsey this week. Another reminder to the women of the community who are members of the Seagrave Fellowship Sisters -- This year's dinner will be held at Conway Place on Wednesday, November 18 with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 per person. Please remember your gift for your fellowship sister with her name on the outside of the package and your name on the inside. Tickets must be purchased before November 4th as the management at Conway must know how many ladies to expect. Please phone and arrange to pay for your ticket to any of the following ~ members: Joanne Leveille 985-9079 after 4:30, Marj Dempsey 985-8865 after 4:30, Betty Somerville 985-8066 and Helena Edinger 985-7588. Ladies who are coming to the dinner for the first time are asked also to bring a gift. Congratulations to Miss Katherine Cooke on winning 1st prize in Stedmans Pumpkin contest. Katherine won the prettiest pum- pkin trophy and prize. This is the busiest week of the year in Seagrave for this is fondly known as "Turkey Supper' week. Ladies of the community have been busy making pies and Christmas pudding in preparation for Wednes- day November 4. Over four hundred people are expected to enjoy our an- nual Turkey Dinner as tickets are all sold for every setting except the early one at 4:00 p.m. where there are only a few seats left. This dinner takes lots of planning and dedication as do all events of this nature. Thank you to all who when asked to help or donate food do so with generosity and will- ingness. We really do have com- munity spirit in Seagrave. The U.C.W. ladies hold their fall bazaar in the Sunday School room on the same day as the Turkey Sup- per Day - November 4. Come out and do some early Christmas shop- ping at their bazaar and pick up something special or crafty. They always have a great selection of home made articles to choose from. Tickets are now available for the Seagrave Christmas Dance to be held Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Sunderland Arena Hall. Bus transportation again this year - call Laurence Carr at 985-8768. Please give Ann Sandiford at 985-9440 a call with your news items next week. You won't be dissappointed when the tas- ty citrus arrive in early December. This year also, the Student Coun- cil will be selling cookies. They offer four types of cookie: fudge, chocolate chip, pecan shortbread, and peanut but- ter, in both large and small sizes. Please support the Student Council at the High School by buying cookies this month.
