26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 3, 1987 Greenbank P.S. reaches finals in basketball Greenbank Public School is just bursting with pride these days The reason they're so proud is the stunning victory of the Junior (Grades four to six) Soccer team, in both the Scugog Cluster tourna- ment, and the Area tournament, held recently. In the Cluster, Greenbank beat out both R.H. Cornish and Prince Albert on October 20th. The win enabled the team to go on to the Area tournament, held Thurs- day October 22. And once again, Greenbank was victorious against Cannington and Uxbridge. Next stop for the girls is the Durham Finals, on November 5th. The team includes Karin Bacon, Sally Irving, Leeann Keeler, Tiffany Reed, Cheryl Szebedinszky, Elissa Blowe, Joanna Shepherd, Paula Reed, Lindsay Kearns, Shallon Parry, Amanda Powell, Sarah Stevenson, Rhonda Winslow, Stacie McBride, Heather Vale, and Karen Kett. Speaking of Greenbank, the new addition to the school is nearly finished. Staff and students are hop- ing to be able to move in sometime in February. Atoms down 2-1 On Friday October 30 the Pineridge Sports Atom No. 2 team saw action against a team from Bowmanville. The first period saw Bowmanville open the scoring and carry that 1-0 lead until the middle of the second period when Kirk Swain assisted by Craig Laird and Kent Taylor tied the game up. Bowmanville went ahead of Port near the end of the period with the game winning goal to give them a 2-1 win over Port Perry. A good effort was turned in by PIANIST GORD GIRVAN for your listening pleasure FRIDAY & SATURDAY NIGHT 7 PM to 10 PM in the Dining Room 10:30 PM to 1 AM in the Catherina Lounge EMIEL'S PLACE - Downtown Port Perry Ricky Olaisen who had several breakaways and according to many spectators probably played his best game of the season. (Doesn't it figure -- his mom had to work and missed the game!) A very special thank you from the boys on the team goes to Diane and Ralph McCullough for their Hallo- ween treats after the game. This week the boys play on Satur- day at 7:30 in Port Perry against the team from Rice Lake and then travel on Sunday to Cobourg for a game.
