Caesarea craft sale on Saturday What, you haven't started your Christmas shopping yet" Well, now that Hallowe'en is over. it's time (believe it or not) to start thinking about Christmas. The Ladies Auxiliary of Caesarea Community Hall are already think- ing about the festive season, and are gearing up for the group's annual Christmas Bazaar, to be held this Saturday November 7th at the hall, right next to the fire hall on Regional Road 57. The bazaar, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., should be overflow- ing with items for sale, with all pro- ceeds going straight back into the auxiliary. Organizers Anne Harran and Geraldine Taylor are promising bake tables, arts and crafts, white elephant, penny tables and a touch and buy table. (What's a touch and buy, you ask? Mrs. Harran says it is a table full of boxes marked men, ladies and children, and if you happen to touch \ one of those boxes, well, you have to | buy it!) 4 There's also plans for a table full of floral arrangements, and of | course, some lip-smacking aq refreshments. Unit leader Kay Notman extended a cordial welcome to all and opened with the Roll Call, **A helpful household hint" with responses being varied, in teresting and some quite unusual! The minutes of the June meeting were read by acting Sec'y J. MacKenzie and approved. Ina Davis gave the Treasurer's report, show- ing a healthy bank balance of $647.33. Many items of business were brought up ... and considerable discussion was held and an ex- change of ideas. As follows: The Emmanuel College weekend when students and faculty were visiting the charge. The Auction Sale at the Norm Mair's home. A suggestion that the Unit ask Rev. D. Davis to dedicate the UCW Banner and Oct. 25th was a suggested date. Kay Not- man presented to the group ... several ideas for future program-- mes. Kay also presented the idea of collecting food, monthly, for a food bank -- it was decided to put this idea on hold until the Nov. meeting. Yvonne Priebe had a most in- teresting devotional- "Finding fault in others." The unit felt we should always try to look for the "positive points" in others, with less criticism. Arlene Malcolm led the pro- gramme. 'A Bible Quiz Game' wiere we all found out how much we didn't know! High point winner of the game -- Kay Notman Meeting adjourned and Joanna served a tasty lunch and a social time was enjoyed. A Lovely Vacation Doreen Rush of Scugog Point, has been entertaining a good friend, Helen Van Wick of Truro, Nova Scotia, for approximately three weeks. Doreen and friends from the Point have been entertaining Helen .. taking her out to see many old friends - as - she is a former resident of Scugog Pt. Dinner at Conway Place on Monday evening was a "going away' dinner ... and after a super meal ... they all went back to Doreen's home for a wine and cheese party ... before she left for Truro on Tuesday. What a great way to spend your holidays! Fall Bazaar Coming Up Keep in mind the Caesarea Ladies Auxiliary Fall Bazaar ... to be held on Saturday, November 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Caesarea Hall. Many exciting items will be for sale and refreshments available. The Ladies are meeting at the Hall on Friday evening -- before the Bazaar on Saturday ... so if you have bak- ing, crafts, etc. to donate, take them in then. We were pleased to welcome into Burns membership, Judy Hillis, Gary and Erlyne Young and Robert (Burt) Carr. Debbie Batten and Matthew Davidchuk read the scrip- ture readings. During the service the Junior Choir sang "Down in My Heart" with the senior choir singing "Open My Eyes That I May See." Rev. McEntyre's sermon title was "Finding a Merciful God." Refreshments were served follow- ing the service and everyone en- joyed a social time together. Next Sunday, November 8th Rev. Blain MacLeod will be with us for morning worship from the Canadian Bible Society. Looking ahead to Sunday, November 15th, the Torchmen from St. Catherines, one of Canada's top male Gospel Groups will be with us - In Concert at Burns Church, begin- ning at 7:30 p.m. Plan to join with us for this special night of gospel music. A social time will follow. Sunday November 21st will be the Sacrament of Holy Communion at Burns. Rev. Dorothy Bulmer will be officiating.
