16 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 10, 1987 Who's the Mayor? Council had a small delay in getting started on Monday as three of the seven members of council were late for the 10:00 a.m. meeting. Although there was a quarum, there was some confusion as to who the Mayor should be as both Mayor Jerry Taylor, and acting Mayor Harvey Graham (when Taylor is not present) were not in their chairs. 'It was decided that Regional Councillor Lawrence Malcolm should take the chair at the head of the table to get the meeting started, leaving only three councillors left to carry-on with the meeting. Shortly after taking the chair, Mayor Jerry Taylor arrived. "We've got the real Mayor now," said Malcolm and he resumed his seat at the council table. Within a few minutes both councillors McLaughlin and Graham arrived and council got down to the task at hand.
