Karen collected 4 goals, and 2 assists, also hitting the scorers sheet were Shawn Lewerentz 1 goal - 1 assist, Todd Moore 1 goal, Brandon Puckrin 1 goal - 2 assists, Matt Phoenix 2 goals, - 1 assist, Jason Brain 2 assists, Steven Kyte 1 assist and Josh Wilson 1 assist. Tripp again went ahead with Chad Mitchell scoring assisted by Steven Cochrane. Two minutes later Matt Brown tied the score'assisted by Jeff Jamieson. Matt completed his hat- trick with an unassisted goal late in the 2nd period. The third period went scoreless giving Scugog a hard fought win. Tykes working at it The 1st year tykes continue to show improvement as they practise - their skills shown them by their dedicated coaches and watched by dedicated spectators. How would that one look under the Christmas tree. Sisters Amy and Sal- ly Irving enjoyed the Toy Party last Thursday evening, sponsored by the Utica Day Care, as a fundraising venture. The toys, which could be Third period penalties hurt Legionaires settle for a tie | The Pee Wee Legionnaires played against Cobourg on Friday night and the game ended in a 4-4 tie. Port and Cobourg were even in shots in the first period, but Port was able to take the lead with a shot by Simon Traynor from outside the blue line. In the second period Port's Duane Empringham came up with a quick shot under the arm of the Cobourg goaltender and linemate Brad Moase picked up the assist on the goal. Port and Cobourg both were short a man when Brad Moase directed a point shot into the net, from defenseman Jeff Andrews, who had picked up the faceoff pass from Duane Empringham. Port scored again with a great passing play from the line of Steve Laird, Jeff Parry and Jason Cochrane. Jeff Tweens win 8-4 On Sunday Nov. 15, Port Perry 1.D.A. Tween Ringette team-travell- ed to Warkworth. The girls came away with an 8-4 victory, their third win in a row. The first goal was scored by Kel- ly Menzies and resulted from great passing between Kelly and Laurel Menzies. Kelly got Port's second goal after receiving a nice pass from little Linda Payne who was up from the Petite C team. . On the third goal, Danielle Cooper let go a rising shot to the top left cor- ner of the net. Valerie Payne got Port's next goal after a great spin- around shot. Nicki Beare picked up our fifth goal after receiving a pass from Chris Mueller. Kelly Menzies got her third goal of the game on a neat pass frofm Laurel Menzies. Kelly's goal came with just under five minutes left in the game, mak- ing the score 6-4. Nicki Beare put the icing on the cake, making it 7-4, with the assist going to Mandy Porter. Valerie Payne got the final goal by bringing the ring out of the corner and scoring unassisted. The game featured great passing plays by all the girls, a lot of hard work along the corners and great defensive work chalked up the goal with a backhand shot. Up until now Port looked in great shape for a resounding win, but then the boys started taking unnecessary penalties and the atmosphere of the game changed quickly. Cobourg bought or purchased came from Kids N Colours. Maybe it was the weather, but organizers of the Toy Party were a bit disappointed at the turnout. But Amy and Sally enjoyed themselves, just the same. was able to score 4 goals within the next ten minutes and Port took 4 penalties in the same time. Port was able to hold the tie, but what a let down after such a strong lead. The team will be travelling to Wasaga Beach next weekend for their first weekend tournament. Girls win, tie Over the past weekend Port Perry [.G.A. travelled to Whitby and Etobicoke for a pair of games. The girls, although playing a little slug- gish on Sat., came home with a 6 to 1 victory over Whitby. Terry again played well in goal and her shut-out was spoiled on a good goal by Whitby. Defensively the girls played well as Dana, Denise and Lisa broke up "play after play in our defensive zone. Scoring for Port were Michelle © Curlin by Scott Howey Congratulations to Carrie Fielding, Tania Fielding, Mike Flynn, Ian Thompson -and Jason Towns who have completed the re- quirements for their final Curling Skill Award Badge. These young curlers can now prepare for their se- cond badge. Hopefully many more curlers will try for their badges on the next test day. Reg Philip, who runs the Junior Curling program, has asked that any club members who would like to assist in the pro- gram should go to the club at 3:30 Tirancis 2 assists and Jen Pelow 1 -assist. The girls weren't as successful when playing Etobicoke as they went down to defeat by a score of 13 to 1. Terry was kept very busy. in ~ goal as Etobicoke showed why they play in "A" division competition.
