- 26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 1, 1987 Kids, moms and dads lined up for up to half-an-hour last Sat- urday afternoon to see Santa following the Scugog Chamber of Commerce Santa Claus Parade. Lisa Kimmerly, 9, of Seagrave was one of the lucky ones near the front of the line and didn't have to walt too long for her turn to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas. Large crowds lined the parade route for close to an hour before the parade made Its way through downtown Port Perry, and by all accounts, it Is believed to be one of the best pa- rades In recent years. by Lillian Harper, P.R.O. There was a reasonably good at- tendance at the November meeting of Honeydale Women's Institute. We regretted the absence of several members, including our President, who is recuperating from eye surgery. We do extend our warmest wishes for a quick - recovery, and hope she can be pre- sent at our next meeting, which is to beheld on December 17 instead of our regular meeting date of Dec. 3 due to circumstances beyond our control. In the absence of our President, Mabel Cawker, the meeting was taken by Mary Cannon. Following the reading of the minutes, and the Treasurers report, the roll call "What would you change about life and living" brought many varied and worthwhile responses. _ During the business period, it was decided not to have a bazaar, but have a Chinese Auction in January instead. Our Christmas meeting will take the form of a pot luck luncheon at 12:30, on December 17 after which each group is requested to provide » Town 'Honeydale Institute an item of program, followed by a gift exchange. Mary Cannon gave a splendid | report on the 85th Convention held Have a BALL at the HALL! at the Royal York, Nov. 3 & 4. Dur- ing her report she brought forth some thought provoking "pros & cons" regarding procedures, told of the resolutions that were placed and reported on the officers for the com- ing year. She expressed her thanks for having been chosen delegate from our branch and spoke of it as a real learning experience! The motto for the meeting "When you rise in the morning, resolve to make someone happy' was ably taken by Alice Dodd, who made several suggestions that we should all try to follow. The convenor of the group in charge, thanked Alice for her worthwhile presentation on the Motto. Before the closing of the meeting, a motion was carried that we give a $25.00 donation to Operation Scugog. Following the singing of 0O'Canada, we enjoyed our usual social time, with a tasty lunch serv- ed by the group in charge.
