Port opened the scoring in the first period with a hard slapshot. from the point by Jeff Andrews, with Jeff Parry assisting on the goal. Then on a Port power play Steve Laird was able to score with the assist from Jeff Parry. Port scored again in the opening of the second period with a goal by Gavin Goal posts On Saturday November 28th, the Sportsland Juniors played host to the Barrie Juniors. Barrie came out of this one the winners 8-5. Heather Lawrence played in goal, while our regular goalie was away. Heather made some good saves, making the game a close one. Shawn Larocque picked up the goaltending for part of the second period and the third period and like Rick had to play a sharp game to keep down the same two Lindsay players. The Lindsay boys were able to score three each on our goalies, but Port scored 3 more times in the final period to keep our 7 - 6 lead. Jason Cochrane made a great deek on the goaltender, after picking up a pass from Jason McBride and Steve Laird. Steve Laird scored on a backhand shot, with assists to Jason Cochrane, and Simon Traynor. The final Port goal was Steve Laird's hat trick on a power play with assists from linemates Jason Cochrane and Jeff Parry. On Sunday night the team travell- ed to Port Hope and beat the local team by 5 - 2. YMCA floor hockey With solid goaltending by Mat- thew Youmans, the Port Perry Red Wings fought back from a 5 to 3 deficit to beat the Green Giants by a score of 11 to 9 in a high scoring 3rd period of senior floor hockey ac- tion and to win their second game of the season. For the Green Giants in the first period, John Hall and Todd Stewart were each able to score on Sean Sauter while in net for the Red Wings. Matthew Youmans was able to get on the scoreboard for the Red Wings by getting a shot past Louis Whitfield, the goalkeeper for the Green Giants. In second period action, the Red Wings' Wade Sheedy and Mike Hep- burn each scored a goal on the Giants goaltender, Louis Whitfield, while Todd Stewart scored one goal and Scott Prechitko scored two for the Green Giants. Kevin Stewart was playing in the net for the Red Wings. In the 3rd period, the Red Wings' scorers opened up on John Hall who was playing in net for the Giants by getting 8 shots past him when he did not get any defensive help from his teammates. Scoring for the Red Wings were Mike Hepburn with 3, Sean Sauter 2, and singles by Wade Sheedy, Kevin Stewart and Blair Prechitko. For the Green Giants, Louis Whit- field and Kevin Pearce each scored 2 goals to help their team out. In junior play at R.H. Cornish, the Blue Jays outplayed the Beige Flyers to beat them by a score of 5 to 3. The five goals by the Blue Jays were scored by 5 different players who were Chris Langford, Jamie Sauter, Jamie Irvine, Adam Jones "and Jeff Whitfield. The goaltending duties were shared by Jamie Sauter and Adam Jones while Adam Jacob- son, Jeffrey Gunn, John Berry, Graig Sheedy and Martyn Van Ravenswaay worked extra hard for the Blue Jays. In the second period Duane Em- pringham scored the Legionaires first goal with a real slick move around the back of the net and catch the goalie sleeping with his poke in the corner. Nathan Brown and Gavin Cochrane assisted on the goal. Port Hope tied up the game but Jeff Parry quickly put Port into the lead again with a tip in off the point shot from Jeff Andrews. Port Perry started to apply the pressure and outshot Port Hope 14 - 2 in the se- cond period. In the final period Jeff Parry again scored for the Legionaires on a quick shot between the goalies feet, after picking up a pass from Steve Laird. Jeff Parry picked up his hat trick of the game on the next Port goal, and assisting was Steve Laird and Jason Cochrane. Jason scored our final goal with a quick shot from in front of the Port Hope net, with the assist from Jeff Parry and Steve Laird. Curling Corner by Scott Howey Congratulations to Steve Foster and his rink on winning the Grey Cup Bonspiel this past Saturday. The results of the White Rose Nursery Competitive League from last Thursday are as follows: Sud- dard defeated Foster in an extra end, Dobson beat Howey, McLean downed Turcotte, and Gary Grant defeated Ray Grant. This Thursday December 3, Scott Howey and his rink of Dave Roth, Glen James and Ken Jeffrey are competing in the annual Sun Life Bonspiel at the Whitby Curling Club. On Friday December 4, Steve Foster and his rink of Ron Parish, Don Beaton and Paul Griffen will be at the Lou Ross Memorial Bonspiel taking place at the Tam Heather Country Club.
