Wednesday of course was our first real taste of winter and members of the **Head" U.C.W. wondered about their planned Mystery Sister Supper at 'The Islander." However, some concerned husbands drove over the most hazardous roads so that 21 ladies arrived on time. We were all pleased to again have a chance to meet with Linda (Eastwood) Whit- . tingham, now of Australia and plan-- ning her families departure this week. Though we were at "The Islander' in the Goreski direction last year, we were pleasantly sur- prised to see the several changes & improvements where the dining area is separated from the dance area and the decor is very attrac- tive. Dining can be quite private and carried over for the evening. The food is perfect _and served very graciously, if you can find room for it all. Of course, Clara Dowson, our dependable handicraft worker had decorated the tables with her usual surprises and momentos, for which we owe her many thanks. After the call to worship by Rev. D. Davis...the Junior Choir sang a seasonal number entitled, 'A Christmas Ballad." "The Advent of our God" was sung...and the 1st can- dle was lit. Rev. Davis spoke on Ad- vent...a meaningful message for all. The UCW Commemorative Banner which hangs beautifully on the east wall was dedicated by the Minister, assisted by Janice MacKenzie... the UCW president. Nestleton Presbyterian Church The regular service at 11 A.M. was conducted by Rev. Fred Swann, with Mrs. M. Davison playing the organ. Psalm No. 4 was read in unison and the Scripture reading was John 3: 1-13. Speaking on the Christian Faith Rev. Swann brought out the fact that Christians are believers in Christ (of all denominations). Assisted by Elders Mr. Stan McNeely and Mr. George Scott Ho- ly Communion was observed.
