EE a 26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 15, 1987 NOVICE Port Perry Printing 6 Davids Hairstyling 1 Port Perry Printing's Jason Hopkins led his team to a rather one-sided victory in this game, as he scored a "natural" hat-trick and assisted on a fourth one which was scored by Adam Jones. Troy Camp- bell and Derek Leeming each had a goal and an assist, while Chris Jamieson chipped in with two assists. Glenn McCready scored Davids only marker, unassisted. December 5, 1987 Van Camp Contracting 2 ReMax Realty 1 In this game there was plenty of good defensive play, as the final score indicates. The Van Camp squad came out the victors on a pair of goals by Kevin Hobbs. Robbie Murphy replied for ReMax. December 7, 1987 ReMax Realty 1 Port Perry Printing 0 Jamie Trick earned the shut-out for ReMax in this one, with Robert Gracie scoring the only goal of the game in the second period. December 7, 1987 Davids Hairstyling 3 Van Camp Contracting 0 This game also resulted in a shut- out victory. Glenn McCready earn- ed the shut-out, with team-mate Brandon Hammond getting a 'natural' hat-trick. Seth Gray assisted on one of the goals. The next games in the league will take place Jan. 9 and 13. Scoring for Lake Scugog were Matt Brown assisted by Greg Pugh and Darren Kinnunen, and Justin Wooten assisted by Matt Mantel and Chris Kennie. Gord Lewis Motors 8 Port Perry Lions 3 Gord Lewis were led by Matt Phoenix 3 goals, 1 assist, Brandon Puckrin 2 goals, 2 assists, Shawn Lewerentz 1 goal, 1 assist, Karen Kett 1 goal, 4 assists, Todd Moore 1 goal, 2 assists, Jason Brain 2 assists, Chris Murdock 1 assist and David Vershunnen 1 assist. Sean Gawley scored all 3 goals for the Lions with Allan Calder picking up 3 assists and Scott Prechitko 1 assist. Tripp Real Estate 4 . Lake Scugog Lumber 3 In a close game Jason Phillips scored unassisted to give Tripp Real Estate a hard fought win. This was Jason's second goal of the game, also scoring were Jon Jamieson, and Steven Cochrane. Picking up assists were Chad Mitchell and Chris Vander Meer. The Lumber Company were led by Jeff Jamieson with 2 goals, Dar- ren Kinnunen 1 goal and Matt Mantel 1 assist. Whitby Auto Wreckers 2 Gord Lewis Motors 2 In another close game Brandon Puckrin led Gord Lewis with 2 goals while Karen Kett and Matt Phoenix had single assists. PEE WEE Scala was awesome! This team faced off to a fast skating pace showing great passing and super puck handling skills. The opposition had their hands full to keep this teams scoring at 7 goals. Scott Foster led the way for Scala with a hat-trick and two assists Blair Prechitko and Mike Williams combined on Scotts goals as well as getting one each themselves. The other two goals for Scala were by Jerry Blackburn and Rick Hutchinson. ~ Minor Hockey Hous Graham Carnegie and Ben Blan- chard also played very strong defence stopping many skillful rushes by the Consumers team. Con- sumers made it a very exciting game in catch up hockey scoring five goals. Ress Stainton scored two, Mike Olaisen two and Scott Airey one, assists went to Kevin Brown 2, Scott Airey 2 and Andrew Pereman 1. Final score Scala 7 -- Consumers 5. Larocque and Big *'V'"' Drug Store also had a great match on this P.A. Day. Larocque won this one 6-5. Both teams showed what team play is all aobut. Larocques Kevin Pearce achiev- ed a hat-trick and two assists to boot. Shawn Larocque had an ex- cellent game scoring two goals and two assists and Cliff LeFort scored I. Mark Cosway picked up 3 assists. Big 'V's" Ryan Picard had a big day scoring 4 of the 5 goals for his team. Steven Slade assisted on three of the 4 and Corey Mason on the fourth. The last goal for Big "*V"" was scored by David Holt and Ian McClelland drew this assist. Both teams played very well with special mention to Brad Lemieux, Scott Wylie and Phil Edgar for Big "V' as well as Kevin Ellis, Mark Jansen and Mike Pugh for Larocque. Wed. Dec. 9 Emiels and Scala went to battle and Emiels came out on top. Emiels Blair Beveridge had an exciting night scoring a hat-trick and assisting on two more. Chad Venn- ing scored 2 and drew 2 assists and Aron Royle got 1 goal and 2 assists. Nicki Beare picked up 2 assists as well. This game showed excellent passing plays by both teams with Emiels clicking on more of theirs. Scala showed real spirit and perseverance and scored three goals as a result. Blair Prechitko worked hard all game and scored a nice goal assisted by Jerry Blackburn and Dale Bradbury. Dar- ryl Slack scored assisted by Mike Williams and Dale Bradbury and their final goal was scored by Mike Williams assisted by Rick Hutchin- son and Dale Bradbury. Mike Williams, Brett Free and Mike Pothier all played well for Scala as did Misty Andrews, Matt Coyne and Troy Hope for Emiels. Final score Emiels 6 - Scala 3. BANTAM Swamp Garage 3 1.LG.A. 3 The 3rd place team, 1.G.A. faced Swamp Garage, the 4th place team. Swamp scored the first goal at 6:23 of the first period when Donnie Hughes combined with Barclay Phoenix to put Swamp up one to zero. Both teams had numerous scoring opportunities but 1.G.A.'s goaltender Peter Brock and Swamp's netminder Noel Lovering were equal to the test. 1.G.A.'s John Woodward scored to tie the game at the :38 of the first period with assists going to Brian McGill and Mark Andrews who played an offensive and defensive game. Swamp continued to work hard and their efforts paid off when Daryl Dutkewich made a nice shot and scored with assists going to Chris Cooper. One minute later 1.G A. scored to tie the game 2-2 when Neil Mark hit the back of the mesh and Daryl Alexander assisted. At the 7:40 of the third period 1.G.A. again scored when Chris McConnell combined with Mark An- drews to give the team a 3-2 lead. Swamp continued to apply the pressure and were successful in ty- ing the game at the 4:39 of the third when Barclay Phoenix made a nice shot and the assist going to Chris Cooper and Daryl Dutkewich. Both teams displayed exciting hockey both offensively and defensively and the tie was well deserved by 1.G A. and Swamp. Game 2 Frank Real Estate 5 Emmerson Insurance Brokerage 5 In the second game the first place team, Frank Real Estate & Emmer- son Insurance, the second place team faced off. This game provided another tie scare as both teams exchanged the lead six times. Franks Adam Danter scored the first goal with Michael Butt assisting at the 12:12 of the first period. Emmerson scored the next two goals to make the game 2-1 when Darcy Head scored unassisted and then Paul Kett scored with Vince Criscione assisting. With only 29 seconds left in the first period Franks Brad Bricknell worked hard and his efforts paid off with an unassisted goal to tie the game at 2-2. At the 5:00 of the second period Emmersons went up 3-2 when Michael Toye made some nice moves and scored with assists going to Vince Criscione and Paul Kett. Emmerson scored again at the 3:34 of the period when Darcy Head scored unassisted to give his team a 4-2 lead. Frank continued to pass and skate hard and with only two minutes left in the second period they scored on a goal by Chris Magill assisted by Doug Adams. Frank tied the game at 14:28 of the third period on a goal by Adam Danter assisted by Alex Crammer EXAMPLE ONL Y and Brad Bricknell. Both teams skated well as they tried to break the tie. At the 3:51 of the first period Emmerson scored to make the score 5-4 when Paul Kett turned the red light on with assist going to Ar- ron Cochrane and Chad Prentice. It appeared that Emmerson were going to win this exciting game but e Leagues Frank's Doug Adams displayed some nice skating and puck handl- ing when he deeked Emmersons defense and fired a hard and high shot in the net with 36 seconds left in the game.
