RN Sr a AINA Ia i de fm a ES i Pato Commit, iin 1 P he N & SEE Welcome aboard, John. The Port Perry Arm Wrestling Club welcomed its newest member last week, John Roberts from Little Britain. He was presented with the club t-shirt by Mike Haigh. Port Midget B's etting on track After starting the season with eight defeats, the Port Perry Midget © B's are starting to turn things © around and have put five straight © wins in the books. The turning point arrived on | November 23 after a very tough 5-3 ~ loss to Bowmanville. The team E members decided then to get down 1 to work and concentrate on team work, desire, passing and positional o play. The new attitude must have 1 helped as the team fortunes began "= loimprove right away with a 5-3 win 8 over Millbrook, a 7-2 win over the i same team, a 4-2 victory over Port + Hope and a 6-6 draw with Omemee. Then on December 9, the Midget i B's hooked up with Bowmanville - 4 againin a game that promised to be = hard hitting and physical in nature. ILegionaires The Port Perry Pee Wee L.egionaires played a superb game against the Bowmanville Toros and = beat them 5-1. Jason Cochrane chalked up our first goal with a high corner shot, after making an end to end rush. We were serving a penalty at the time and Peter King and Darryl Vander Slagt assisted on the goal. Steve 8 Laird scored our next goal on a great pass from Jeff Parry, with the 8 original pass from the stick of defenseman Jeff Andrews. [nthe second period Bowmanville 2 was able to score their lone goal before the Legionaires scored again The team was ready for this one and skated to a well deserved 6-2 victory. The team has been receiv- ing fine fan support and the players really appreciate the friendly faces in the stands. The Canadian Tire Midgets had a game on Monday evening (Dec. 14) so watch next week's Port Perry Star for details on the outcome of that game. This year's Port Perry Midget B's are coached by Don Intine with Doug Allen as manager and Jim Jackman as the trainer. Stacey Ballingall and Kevin Glassier share the goaltending chores; along the blue line are Paul Allen, Rob Jamieson, Eric Douma, Mike Grif- fin. The forwards are Mike Sorley, Ketin'Roberge, Jamie Menzies, Joe Jackman, Gerry Douma, Jim Ver- non, Jason Weinholt, & Mark Elliott. trip up Toros Jeff Parry directed the next goal low on the goalie after defenseman Darryl Vanaer Slagt made the original shot. Steve Laird worked hard to also earn an assist on the goal Steve Laird caught the Toros nap- ping, while Port served another penalty, and he made a great end to end rush and pulled the goalie from his net before neatly putting it in behind him. Jason McBride scored our final goal of the game with the assist from Gavin Cochrane Shawn Larocque and Rick Hut: chinson shared the goaltending and both boys came up with brilliant saves to keep the score so low At the bowling lanes Tuesday Night Mens December 8, 1987 Team Standings: Gutter Dusters 28, Champs 24, Handicappers 19, Hornets 13, Terminators 12, Raiders 9.
