Then roamed through the miniature village, admiring the multi-coloured lighting display. Later on they were invited to the home of Earl and Jean Martyn, where the Sportie-Q- Club was in action. Memorable © eet Christmas show The Uxbridge Chamber Choir gave an excellent and entertaining performance at their Christmas Concert on Sunday December 13th. The major work of the evening was the Gloria By Francis Poulenc. This seasonally appropriate presen- tation is a voicing of the hymn sung by the angels to announce the birth of Jesus Christ. The Uxbridge Chamber Choir, under the direction of Thomas Baker, gave a competent and sensitive interpretation which was received by an empathetic and appreciative audience. The soloist for the Gloria, Katharine Smithrim, gave an ac- complished performance and added sparkle to an already outstanding work. The piano accompanyment added much to the ambiance of the work and was played with facility and feeling by Anne Baker. The second half of the program was a selection of carols of diverse mood and musical tidings. In- teresting effects were achieved by a processional musical entrance and the use of many soloists from within the choir whose voices contributed to the quality and message of the various pieces. As an extra to the program the choir gave an encore performance of the well known 15th century Ger- man carol "Es 1st Ein Ros." A door prize of two tickets to up- coming concerts by the Uxbridge Chamber Choir, was won by Colin Ryan of Port Perry. The Uxbridge Chamber Choir will be performing with the Trinity: United Church Choir on Sunday, December 20th at 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Church in Uxbridge in a presentation of Nine Lessons and Carols.
