Vern and Vera Asselstine spent from Thursday till Sunday visiting Vern's sister Eileen Yanciw of Mississauga. On the way they just very narrowly missed the terrible crash on Highway 401 in terrible driving conditions. Christmas Eve guests of May and Hector Shortridge were Larry and Mary Mackie of Manvers. Bill and Sheila Shortridge and girls hosted a family Christmas Day gathering. Those attending were Mrs. Erskine and Dale Russell of Thornhill, Judy and Murray Hopkins, Danielle and Ryan of Newmarket, Pat and Kathy Russell and family of Aurora, May and Hec- tor Shortridge. Mrs. Flora Samells attended funeral services for Mrs. Amanda McLean of Bowmanville. Mandy was a cousin of Kenneth and a longtime friend of the Samells family. On Sunday, December 27 Albert and Kathleen Watts hosted the Christmas family dinner. Those pre- sent were Irene and Anson Taylor, Scarborough, Kathy and Melanie Devins, Iroquois Falls, Caroline and Gordon Rediten, Peter and Steven of Bramalea. During the Christmas holiday Albert and Kathleen Watts enter- tained her aunt and uncle Bertha and Harry McLaughlin of Nestleton. On January 2 Kathleen and Albert Watts entertained long-time friends Jeanne and Wes McMahon of Bethany for a New Year's Day dinner. Muriel and Henry Wotten return- ed on Saturday from a fabulous Christmas holiday in Hawaii. They spent the first week at Waikiki Beach on Oahu Island and then travelled to the Garden Island of Kauai. They had travelled with a group of friends and relatives on this great trip. Thursday evening dinner guests of Gerald and Joyce Kelly, Elizabeth, Elaine and Esther were Gayle and Leighellen Atkin of Fenelon Falls. By now all of the University and - College Students have returned to - their studies. We wish them well in the remainder of this year's courses. Her many friends are happy to know that Doreen VanCamp will be ordained into the Ministry this May in Brockville.
