Sunday night they showed signs of fatigue, yielding 4 third-period goals to fall to Lindsay 7-5. Joe Broad- worth led the offence with 1 goal and 2 assists while Jay Tredway had a pair of goals. Chad Kearns had 1 of each and Dave Bourgeois counted a goal. Scott Heasman, Jeremy Norton, Brent Harper and Kenton LeFort each added 1 assist. Friday night in Stouffville was a different scene, with Mike Pashley providing standout goaltending to lead a 4-1 victory. Brent Harper played a strong game scoring the first 2 goals, the first from Jeremy Geer and Jay Tredway ; the second from Jeremy and Scott Heasman. Mike made sure that was enough although Jay; unassisted; then Mike Labanovich into the empty net on an assist from Kenton, provided the insyrance. The weekend saw Malmont Farms compete in King City's Tour- nament of Champions. This provid- ed what was probably the finest overall calibre the boys have faced this year, with both the defending C and CC provincial champins atten- ding. Saturday, a slow start was costly as Pelham jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 4 minutes then played even the rest of the way for a 4-2 win. Joe Broadworth, from An- drew Jones and Clay Scott; then Brett Lawson from Chad Kearns and Dave Bourgeois did the scoring. Joe was also named MVP for the game. Game 2 against Mt. Brydges was another tight game as Chad Kearns, from Dave Bourgeois and Scott Heasman; and Jeremy Geer, from Brent Harper and Brett Lawson supplied all the offence Mike Pashley needed for a 2-0 victory. Jeremy won MVP for his effort in this game. : Saturday evening, Stirling pulled off a 2-1 win over Port, scoring a goal just as a penalty expired with 1:18 to go in the game. Scott had tied the score midway through the third" period, assisted by Joe and Kenton. Chad had a strong game and receiv- ed the MVP pin. The return trip was to face the powerful, undefeated host team. Playing mostly for pride, Port gave King City their toughest battle of the tourney. Brent scored unassisted early to give Malmont a 1-0 lead, and a 1-1 tie lasted until the middle of the third. Pee wees split 2 Last Monday night the Stone Realty Pee Wee's travelled to Orono to face the tough home town team. Port was still obviously tired from the previous weekend's tournament and got off to a slow start falling behind 3-0. They narrowed the score with 21 seconds left in the second period as Jody Logan scored assisted by Bil- ly Sandiford. Ken Winslow cut Orono's lead to one in the third period with help from Jody Logan and Brendon Agnew. The boys could not keep up the momentum, as Orono scored twice more to win the game 5-2. On Wednesday night the Stone team travelled to Oshawa to play the Minor Canadiens. The boys once again got off to a slow start falling behind 2-0. Jody Logan started the comeback assisted by Mike Sluggett and Billy Sandiford. Steve Desautels then tied the score on a nice On January 10, Port Perry Tweens took on the visiting team from Warkworth. Port played well and won the game by a 9-3 score. The score might have been higher if it hadn't been for a strong perfor- mance by the Warkworth goalie. The girls from Port played well both offensively and defensively and some great passing highlighted the game. It is good to see the unselfish passing by some of the girls affec- ting the play of the rest of the team. The passes don't always get the o late power These four excellent games show- ed the type of team play of which Malmont Farms is capable. Mike and Steve Gilbert both supplied super goaltending, while the rest of the team contributed to strong defensive play. Special mention should be made of Jay King, who did not figure in the scoring, but had a strong tournament; and to Craig Laird, who looked right at home in tough competition, and performed well. breakaway goal after being set up by Sean McEnaney. This was the last goal of the game and left the score tied 2-2. On Saturday night Port played at - home against Bowmanville. For the third game in a row the Stone gang fell behind 2-0 and then 3-1. The boys caught fire in the second period scoring 5 times in a row to take a 6-3 lead. Port then ran into penalty trouble allowing Bowmanville to come back and tie the game at 6. Scoring for Port were Adam Johnston from Brendon Agnew, Peter King with his first for the team assisted by Ken Winslow, Billy Sandiford from Jody Logan and Brendon Agnew, Adam Johnston unassisted, Sean McEnaney unassisted and Jody Logan from Steve Desautels. It is not known when Port's home game is but they do travel to Durham this weekend for a tournament. Tweens win 9-3 most goals but without them there would be less goals scored. Valerie Payne led the goals scored with 4 goals, Nicki Beare picked up three, Danielle Cooper was credited-with one goal and Kel- ly Menzies and Chris Mueller netted one each. Assists were given to Chris Mueller with two, Kelly Men- zies, Sarah Wanamaker, Danielle Cooper and Valerie Payne with one each. Laurel Menzies also had a strong game for the home town team.
