If you remember a group from each Nur- sing Home went to Haliburton on a combined trip back in 1987. . Tuesday (5th) we had a major . clean-up from the holidays. Throughout the afternoon we held a "Review of '87."' We all took a keen interest in looking over all the events that have happened in 1987 throughout the nursing home and the community. After supper a church service was provided by the Presbyterian Church. The following day we had manicures. It was certainly a quiet day. In the evening hours was a euchre. Thursday afternoon a good many ladies gathered together to work on a variety of different crafts. To end this first week was a Bingo. Congratulations to the lucky players who won prizes. Monday January 11th, the after- noon was spent watching movies. The first movie was called 'Roger Tory Peterson" (Parts 1 & 2) and the second one was 'The Nature Art of Robert Bateman." These were very informative movies. In the lat- ter part of the afternoon there was an Executive Meeting. On Tuesday the weather was ex- tremely hot here inside the building. It must have been the atmosphere in the air as we celebrated "Tropical Day." Everyone was parading around in their best sun- ny south outfit. I especially liked Ralph Sommerville's bikini. Exer- cises in the morning were done to tropical music and then everyone enjoyed a delicious tropical lunch. During the afternoon we all joined in for an afternoon of fun 'n' games 'n' treats. Prizes were given out to the Best Looking Man -- Donald Spencley, Best Looking Woman -- Dorothy Archer, and the Best Look- ing Staff -- Wendy Clark. A very special thank you to all those who participated in this fun event. In the evening a church service was pro- vided by the Prince Albert United Church. The afternoon scheduled activity on the 13th was Bowling. Con- gratulations to our top scorer Miss Joan Tuck with 117 points. Tnursuaay afternoon was extreme- ly busy with a craft session. Over supper hour the Supper Club got together for a delicious meal con- sisting of fish & chips from the Galley. "Friday the 15th was baking. Some of the ladies prepared cherry cup- cakes that were used on the treat wagon later on in the afternoon. The residents and staff would like to extend their sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs. Ivah Woods. Ivah passed away on Tues- day Jan. 5th while a patient over at the hospital. We will all certainly miss her. Birthday wishes are extended to Mr. Lionel Blaikie (Jan. 30), Mr. Bill Morz (Feb. 1), and Miss Nita Switzer snowmobile stolen Durham Regional Police were called to Switzer Motors in Port Perry on January 12, to investigate the theft of a snowmobile. Police say a 1986 Polaris Indy was stolen from the car lot, at the cor- ner of Highway 7A and Water Street, during the night. The snowmobile was up for sale, but not for that cheap. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, January 19, 1988 -- 35 Snowflake Tea was a wonderful occasion McPherson (Feb. 1). Up-coming events are Hat Day (Jan. 22), Trip to the Science Cen- tre (26), Pub Night (28), and Trip to visit Kim (Feb. 1). We would all like to extend a warm welcome to several new residents. Special welcome to Mrs. Hazel English who now resides on the 2nd floor. Hazel comes to us from the Port Perry Villa. Also a warm welcome to Mr. Frank Dowson who will also be located on the 2nd floor. Mr. Dowson is known throughout the Port Perry area as an extremely talented carpenter. Also a welcome wish to Mrs. Alette Meditz to the 3rd floor. Alette has family living here in the Port Perry area. : PORT PERRY, PRINCE ALBERT UNITED CHURCH Rev. John H. Brown, B.A., M.Div. Interim Minister Rev. Don Tansley, B.A., M.Div.
