They note that the whole purpose of Snowarama is to raise money for the Easter Seal Society to assist children and their families in Durham Region. Mrs. Smith, Scugog chairman for the PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, February 2, 1988 -- 3 Heart Fund door-to-door campaign which started Heart Fund drive starts February is Heart Month in Canada, and in Port Perry and Blackstock, close to 200 volunteers have started a doof-to-door canvass to raise money which will be used in the fight against heart disease. Judy Smith, chairman of the cam- paign in Scugog, said last week a target of about $9,000 has been set for the Port Perry canvass. Last year, the door-to-door campaigning here raised slightly over $8400. Total donations from Port Perry for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario in 1987 amounted to $32,000, including $8400 from the canvass, a further $5700 from memoriam donations and $18,000 from bequests. A further $2200 was raised in Blackstock through the efforts of the high school students Jump Rope. The money people donate each February is used to fund more than a io on Monday and has a target this year of $9,000. There are still a few areas of Scugog where door- to-door canvassers are needed.
