2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 8, 1988 More break-ins Durham Region Police say that a Township residence on Concession Three was hit by thieves recently, and a cottage at Carnegie Beach on Scugog Island was ransacked. Police say the break-in at the home occurred February 29 when the owners were away. Entry was through a basement window, and missing was a cassette player and two remote control toy cars. Total value of the stolen items was about $1300. The owners of the Carnegie Beach cottage reported the incident recently. Entry had been gained through a window, and while there was nothing missing, those responsible had ransacked the cot- tage and left it in quite a mess, ac- cording to police. New activities at 'Y' The Durham Region Family YMCA has planned a variety of new activities for our March Break Camp '88. : The fun begins on Monday, March 14 when all school-age children are invited to Carnival Craze. Beginning at 9 a.m., we will be creating games, crafts, and prizes for our Penny Carnival in the afternoon. On Tuesday March 15 we have planned a "Florida Day". In the morning, we will feature Disney crafts and cartoons and in the after- noon a "Beach Party" at Uxpool. On Wednesday, March 16 a new concept for the YMCA as we present "Theatre Day." Children will participate in a Theatre Arts Workshop put on by members of Country @oruers Cate (formerly Redman"s) the Co-op Theatre Group from Port Perry High School. On Thursday March 17 we'll see the "Wearin of the Green" as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Irish crafts, traditions and a party. The March Camp concludes on Friday March 18 with a morning of nature crafts and kite building and an afternoon trip to Purple Woods Sugar Bush. The activities run daily from 9 am. to 4 p.m. with extended hours possible. The cost is $14/ day per child, or $7/half day, and the children may bring their lunch as noon activities are also planned.
